Good Morning Everyone!!

Nothing new to report on this end...Hope you all are doing well. Today is a sewing day...yes, perhaps writing down for all to see will encourage me to actually go in my sewing room and sew!! Did I mention that the sewing room has NO air flow...it is a converted attic space and while insulated ... it's still very HOT!! Maybe it's my way of finding out what an egg feels like incubating??!!

Does anyone know of a good rescue group?? I would REALLY like to find the stray cat outside a good home, because she's so friendly and sweet...now she is a mama though and has 5 kittens (if only I didn't have Snickers, I'd be tempted to keep one). We've been waiting for over a year for one group but they are over-flowing and are not taking any in until they already have a foster home lined up. I was planning on having her fixed (through Operation Catnip) but rather than rereleasing her, I'd rather find her a good forever home. Any ideas?? Thank you in advance!!

Good Morning Everyone! Another late morning for me. Sigh. The chickens are going to revolt soon. All is well here this morning. Looks like another scorcher, so stay cool, everyone!

Morning all- I have been starting my days early to be in before the heat. We just put a pool up yesterday so I plan on spending most of the day in it with the kids

Thank you to the wonderful hubby for finally giving in and getting a pool.

I did lose one of the babies. I am afraid he was my Holland Roo too

I hope I'm wrong. I am learning that you need to get twice as many chicks as you actually want to make up for losses. I just know my hubby would not do well if I came home with 20 chicks at a time so I have to build up slowly..... that way he may not notice.

I hope everyone had a fun holiday and didn't blow anything up!!!

good morning everyone!!! hope you all had a splendid July 4th. i sat at home and watched the incubator, yesterday was hatch day and only had 1 hatch?!? no pips in any other eggs so far but got my fingers crossed they are just late.

candlegal- I'm so sorry about your chick.

NH- have fun sewing! my Nana keeps wanting to teach me to sew but i just cant get the hang of it, even on a sewing machine my seams come out crooked, o well, this is why i saved every single piece of clothing ever made for me by my mother.

Hollow- don't feel bad about the late start, with this heat its hard to want to get up and do anything. maybe your chickens will get the idea and start sleeping in to!

have a wonderful day everyone

At least twice, if not more

Just tell DH that you 'can' always sell the extra ones that you don't want to keep! BTW have you ever heard of 'Chicken Math'

Scott (who has sold extras)

Hubby commented on chickens this morning. Usually his comments are limited to egg production, feed costs and such other businesslike things. He's not a chicken person. But this morning, he pointed out two birds that he thought were pretty. (The BLRW I got from CSB) He was pleased that I have two more in the brooder box. Might convert the man yet!

Make him a gift of a few birds?

Quote: Beth, of all the eggs I got from you, the only thing I can't keep is any BLRW roos. (Unless hubby likes them enough to build them their own space!) All the rest of the birds will stay, unless there is a huge disparity in roo:hen ratio.

Oh...is anyone braving the TSC flock swap, or WCA this weekend? It will be a touch cooler than last week, but I'm not sure if I want to expose my birds to it or not. I've got OEG bantam chicks and a couple lavender cockerels and a mix or two to dispose of. I've got a freezer full of chicken, so am not inclined to butcher the cockerels in this heat!
