Ok not trying to promise similar results here, but I had hatched out 5 beautiful chicks from eggs I got from Beth and the verdict is in- four little pullets and only one roo. A perfect little flock! I'll take that ratio any day. My egg basket will now be complete- a blue egg, an olive egg, a chocolate egg, and a cream egg.

WHAT? and not even a pure white egg for contrast?

WARNING: CUTENESS OVERLOAD!!
The following photos are for Rookie, but especially for Beth's girls!!
ALL 5 (plus mama) are looking for forever homes, if you have a need for a barn cat!! Each one is very sweet & friendly - only one is shy, but still loves to be cuddled. I believe there are 3 boys and 2 girls - both tigers are girls (I think) and 2/3 of the grey are boys (again, I think...they are not too fond of having their "parts" examined...LOL).

This one says ADOPT ME, I give free cuddles!! Also...I'm mischievous!!

This one says, "Who me? I didn't do it...whatever IT is!"

This one is the runt and says ADOPT ME, I love to talk and give cuddles oohh and eat when my brother & sisters let me eat.

This boy says, Beth, you know you WANT ME

She says, "No thanks, I'm not interested in that big, scary, black thing you are carrying that is making a clicking sound." :)

Also, a special thank you to Beth & Alex who answered my panicked question regarding my "vomiting" chicken...apparently chickens can drink too much and "vomit" water!! LOL...Never saw that before, and I panicked!! LOL Glad to know no one was sick!!

I can't handle many more of these moments...lol
But, My Dear, all you have to do is pick them up and hold them close to your good ear and shake easy like. If you hear any rattling sounds you have a young boy.

Good Luck with the Cats, we have tooooooooo many now as it is!!

:love :drool NH if you were closer I'd take the runt and the lil shy one! OMG so cute! I am having a horrible horrible time with a rat population explosion! And thanks for the tip on the vomiting, I noticed one of my hens doing that today and now I know why!

We are in Williams, Az. We left Las Vegas this morning.....went and seen the Hoover Dam then went down to the old Route 66 and took that to a little mining town called Oatman........what at treat that was.......if you are ever out this way you should go to Oatman. We will go see the sights of the Grand Canyon and surrounding Indian village ruins and maybe even a meteor crater in the area.

Hope all is going well for you folks and you are having better weather now.

Good Morning Everyone!

Glad to see CSB posting...I love hearing where you've all been.

Our tomatoes are also exploding out there. I'll dry more than can, though. The grapes are ripening, too. Those will mostly go to juice. Neither of us is a big jelly eater, so I only make jelly for gifts these days. The grapes are heavy though, so I'll have quite a few gallons to do. I need to get out to the peach farm and get a couple bushels to put up though. I love my peaches!

I've been watching the turkey poults grow. These are a cross between Royal Palm and Bourbon Red. They are far more beautiful than either pure breed at this age. I'm thinking of keeping some and seeing how they turn out. I'll see if they slow down long enough for pictures in the next day or so.

I've got a weak chick I'm worried about this morning. It got out and got cold and wet. I'm not sure it'll make it. My fault. I should have contained them better.

I'm spending the day imitating a cucumber...just vegging. Enjoy yours.

CBS, sounds like a WONDERFUL trip!!!

Moores, good luck to you! I hope the storms hold off for you. :)

I just got back from picking blackberries this morning and the season is coming to a close. My arms are all torn up. Oh well, I got like 10 lbs before I had to come home, get them cleaned and packed up to can later. Gotta goto work in an hour. Its been a really fun week let me tell you! hahaha

Looks like the rain will finally end by tomorrow. Maybe I can get out in the garden and get the chickens out there working in the tractor coop by then. They need fresh greens, and I need weed control after that rain.

My broody mommas friend is picking on her. So now, I have to take away the rabbits cage and separate them.

I just dont have the room for this! Not yet anyway. The momma has a huge bloody spot on her head where shes gotten pecked at so is Blu-Kote okay for near her eyes? What should I use? Ill try to post a pic later.. This is her yesterday, again, any help identifying her would be amazing. Thanks!

Quote: If you are seperating, there is no need to put anything on the place. Let the blood scab and it will heal on it's on. Blu-Kote is mainly to keep others from picking at it.

Matt
