When looking for hay for nests, try asking the feedstores or hay suppliers if they have any scraps you can pick up. When a bale breaks or just some loose falls off most places will let you pick up the loose for free. I get mine at Belle Farm. I usually get a big black trash bag full. The more I get the less they have to clean up.

I have even picked up fresh hay off fields after a cut was baled and hauled off. Some always get left here and there. Just have to ask.

Good Morning, Everyone!

Off to WCA today. Next time, we'lll have CSB and RF back again! Woohoo!

I'm dropping off the buff orp cockerel in Four Oaks on the way up. And I didn't think to make cages for the extra tom turkey poults, so I guess those will wait until another day. And I was so busy yesterday I didn't bake anything! I wonder if I have time this morning.......

Good morning folks

Hope everyone is doing well today. We will
miss being at WCA with you folks but maybe
next time.

We spent the night in Winchester, Ky. We
got to see some of the Kentucky Horse park
yesterday. It is so big that I think we need another
day there but we are heading home instead.
The only other stop we are thinking on is
possibly letting the kids do a little panning in
the mountains if we a mine along the way.
We hope to be home later tonight or tomorrow.......
hard to say as I do think we are just a tab bit
on the tired side..........and we would need to make
a trip to Beth yet.......I'm willing to bet these kids are
going to be sick of a car soon

GOT MY FIRST EGG!!!!! Went to put them out and when I got some feed for my broody, it was laying back behind the feed! I feel sure that it is Omelette's egg so that makes it extra special.

I am going to try to blow it out so I can keep it :)

that it wont break lol

LOL the big girls 2 are nice no DQs (a dark partridge, and a black) the other two (partridge) have wing issues and lacking in crest size that make them PQ...so probably not what you'd want anyway ;)
the white chicks I have are looking promising. I have a super cute 2 month old blue partridge pullet that is killer cute and some cockerels that have some pretty color coming in on them.

I know about the guineas I have 6 that are about 14 weeks old, and funny buggers, just getting their bald heads. don't need anymore, those 6 are crazy enough. LOL though I'd love to eventually get some neater colors, but that'll have to wait till next year. Keep me in mind when you have eggs next year and I definitely would love to get some eggs from you!

I never go anywhere for long, and when I do i have my parents to care for the birds for me thankfully. if I didn't yeah I would go nuts worrying about them, especially in summer.

Phew! You've saved me from myself! lol I am good for whites--got more pretties than I can keep--and will resist the others for now. Sounds like next year we'll have to do some swaps. :D

I wish you were closer!
I wish all you all were closer! lol But, keep me in mind if you're ever this way and who knows? Maybe it could work out. :)

Lovely day at WCA. I came back with fewer birds than I left with.

Turned out there were lots of meaties up for sale, so BYCers took their toll on them. I brought home only Wyandottes and nothing else.
