these are the coops i just built for my chickens when it's time to leave the brooder. (2 week olds) i'm gonna build a run between two of them. the sides lift up for easy access to the eggs/cleaning and they are waterproof when closed. vinyl floor, nesting boxes, and roosting bar inside.  i'm coop crazy!!! i actually built three because i love to build them.

Wow those are gorgeous! I wish I knew someone with that kind of building ability.

How much in materials would you say it cost to build them? What are the dimension? They are AWESOME! wish I had that kind of skill, my building atempts are mediore at best. LOL

Hollow the few welsummer eggs I've seen in person aint that dark. But people say that the good lines have dark eggs, so you'll have to find someone with a good line of them. But your plan sounds good

The day after I posted about my chickens laying small eggs. I started getting huge double yolk eggs every other day..
kinda cool

My very first double yolked egg!

ETA: What could cause a chicken to have blue earlobes? Besides Silkies, I dont know of any breed that has them... My OEGB hen has blue and red earlobes. I know for a fact she has no Silkie heritage but other than that, I really couldnt tell ya.. If shes pure I want to get a roo for her and breed her but now I dont know... So is she pure and just different? or a mix?

The really weird thing about my hen is that she lays large sized eggs. They are the same exact size as a store bought egg. She is only the size of my Silkie who lays tiny tiny eggs. Is it normal for OEGs to lay large eggs?

Its so weird that her ears are two colors...

Hey all...just popped in to see what is going on and hopped on to the another/wrong North Carolina thread.... so I invited them here.
