I think it has rained twice in the last 2 weeks, and both times it rained it only rained for 5-10 minutes. Just enough to wet the leaves. The only thing I have left alive are peppers and tomatoes. The corn, cucumbers and squash bit the dust...or turned into dust more like.
While it has not rained at 'my' place every day it has
been way too often the last two weeks that it rained.
Our hay man has not been able to get the second cutting
from the fields and it's just as bad for the grain farmers......
need it to slow down to once a week rain here.

RF.........awwwww.........and I bet she just about had
it figured out

I don't think I am far from The county you are in; if you can't get feed or resonable subtitute, please pm me in the morning. I will see what I can get to help. I have feed, but also feed from the garden. Turning the computer off .../ STORM!!!!!!! I'll check back in the morning
Thank you for the offer!!

We have TONS of tomatoes & peppers from the garden that are going to waste faster than we can use them, so I have been dishing those out to the chickens as a "treat". They free range too, so that should help. I have a call in to our feed store and I called the distributor of the feed to see when a delivery is set!! LOL. Believe it or not, the "maker" of the feed suggested digging down and seeing if ALL of the feed was wet or just the top layer. If the mold was on the top layer only, he said to go ahead and use the non-moldy stuff. I'm a bit nervous doing that, so I think I will hold out today and see if I can get a bag of feed before the weekend. My usual delivery of feed (figures) is next Saturday, so if I can't get feed...then I will just have to hold them off until then. Can chickens get FAT on tomatoes & peppers?!? LOL

Zak!! I hope you find this forum as helpful, and wonderful as I do!! TONS of helpful enablers and those suffering from Chicken Math and Chicken Addictions found here!! As for rain...you can take some from us as well!! I can't keep the grass from being a meadow with how fast it's growing...guess I just need SHEEP!!

Not much planned here....sitting and watching some broodies and since it cooled off a bit, I'm heading off to bake a few batches of bread - attempting to make sub buns among others and maybe even surprise my DH with a batch of cookies!!

Glad to see a NC thread!

I have signed on recently as well, and everyone has been so nice, and helpful. I hope you enjoy! I know I should have done this a long time ago.

ramirezframing I love having the little ones in the kitchen, and yes I get a little worried when I realize that he has been in the experimenting without an adult. So far nothing too scary, but consern is still there. I bet she was so proud of her self.

Last week was crazy. My chickens are all fine. LOL Learned I can't free range with my old Shepard out, he likes to herd them. My middle son was hit by the mirror of a truck, scared the poo out of me. He is perfectly fine. Started with Weight Watchers this week. Sad to say they use alot of processed foods in their productes. So I will not be using them, but using the point system with fresh foods. I have alot of weight to loss. UGH.

Good Morning, Everyone!

Still no new cases of MG here, so we are considering trying to test out more birds than just the turkeys. I've an email in to the inspector to ask about timeline and costs for this to see if it is at all feasible. Cross your crossables! The most susceptible birds...my babies...are already gone. If we put down all the birds in the pen that the sick ones came out of, maybe that would eliminate any carriers. Then test the others. Looks good on paper, anyway. I think it's worth a try. It would save me a lot of birds!

Hopefully we can pull this off.

I've got a lot to do over today and tomorrow. Someone please try to tuck an extra day in there for me, okay?

Hugs to anyone who needs one today!
