Well...our hatch is NOT off to a good start. I went in to check on the mamas and see their progress when I saw a chick fully emerged from it's egg laying next to my buff...dead. Not sure what happened, nor would mama allow me to get close enough to investigate.

So we are already -1 out of the gate...lets hope the rest hatch successfully!! This means we need an incubator and an indoor brooder, RIGHT?

Chasity - Not sure what I am going to be tutoring exactly...no worries as I LOVE English & Literature...all I know is that she struggles with comprehension, so I'm praying I can explain things in a relatively simplistic manner for her.

So none of the eggs hatched.....went and cracked a few and I don't think they were fertile =( but found momma some day olds....

she took right to them, I thought she was sleeping and tried to put them under her and take the eggs. she woke up and beaked one of the babies under her and they've been out playing all day yesterday.....just so darn cute =)

sorry to hear those eggs you got from us didn't hatch......always a chance you take....sometimes most all hatch ,...then sometimes only afew will hatch.....glad you found some chciks for her thou

Thanks for letting me have the eggs! I was excited about having bantams so I went and found some duccles that I will be getting this afternoon!

No worries on the hatch...it's early (I think) and I haven't lost hope....YET!!

As for teaching your students....OH NO!! I gave up teaching when I left the collegiate field and decided to teach 6-12 grade English, Literature and Drama. BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER!! I could handle college kids not wanting to be in class, not wanting to do stuff - easy, I could kick them out! Try teaching pre-teens and teens who know it all and don't need you to teach them what a noun is or worse yet...how Shakespeare is truly a classic piece of literature and NOT the Twilight Series...FORGET IT!!

I guess it didn't help that I was teaching at a school that didn't believe in zeros...so regardless of what they did/didn't do no student was suppose to get below a 50%!! So you tell me how it's right for a student who really tries and just doesn't get it is equal to one who doesn't try or do anything at all? I told my bosses that I would NEVER go along with that...I teach REAL LIFE - you don't go to work, you don't have a job type of real life!! LOL. So glad my husband was hired with an amazing company so we could move away from that school and I could be blessed abundantly with 2 babies and a new job: "stay at home" mom/teacher!! Although....I may be PM'ing you in the future when I have to teach my kids Science!! LOL Watch out...I might find out where you are, drop my kids off and RUN!!

You can't loathe science! You are living it! Ha! Use your garden and your livestock. I bring them into my classroom all the time! I use chickens to teach genetics!
