North Carolina

I have 0.5 cc, but not 25 g. The needles that I have are 20g. (I think these were for the goat).

When I go up to TSC do I look in the fridge? Also, does this have to be injected under the skin, muscle or bone?

Tylan is not refrigerated. Look on the shelves with other antibiotics. Some stores do not have it out and you have to ask.

Some recommend Muscle, but I have found that just under the skin on the back works very well. There is some loose skin right at the top of the back that is easily lifted.

Thank you Matt,
I wish she did not need to be medicated to heal up, but first the leg, and now sick.

The other one I am watching close, but have not decided what to do with her. I asked the kids not to touch just in case it can be passed back to the others in the yard. She has drank & ate a little, but if she does not have enough in her I will force feed her. I have done it successfully before.

Today is just NOT my day!
I posted this on another page....

She is at egg laying age, and was purchased at TSC earlier this year. Our girls have a large outdoor habitat that they range and scratch in regularly. Last night when I went out to lock everyone up she was in the house in a nesting box with her mate. I did not think much of it because it appeared to be a good thing that she was settling in to the house at night where it is safe. I have a few bantams that go high up in a tree.

This morning I went in to take a look at everyone, and open up for the day, and I noticed her standing in the floor with her head hanging down. 2 days ago she seemed fine, so it is something new, but what. She has not lost weight, but does not have an appetite. If needed I will syringe feed later in the day. I don't know what I am dealing with here, and it looks like when the ducks had limp neck disease last year. With antibiotics they pulled through, and the vets office told me that the chickens, goat, dogs, and people could not get it; just water fowl.

I feel helpless seeing her so vulnerable. HELP!

I am worried that she will drown in her water, but I want her to drink it. She was ok with me picking her up, and usually has more of a mind of her own; her terms...

I tried to add the one from 2 days ago, but it is not loading?????

The computer is still not letting me load pictures, but I am happy to announce that this little girl is looking a lot better! She has lifted her head up into normal positioning, and her wings are not hanging. She is even doing her little chatty happy song, and getting out of the bin to look out the glass door at the woodlands on the outside. I did put a cover on the bin, and will observe her for a while longer, but this one is doing great!

Now for the other one... She has been hopping for weeks now, and then started acting run down. I noticed that the little ones were running her down and separated her from even them. She took a turn yesterday, and someone on another thread recommended an antibiotic injection that I could purchase at TSC; so I did! She does not look any worse this morning, but I will keep watch, and keep forcing fluids as she has lost weight in the past 2 days, and was not a heavy bird to begin with. Tylan was the injection for the resritory distress, and Vet Rx is under her wings, and in her litter to emit vapor to help open her lungs and sinus, so she can breath better. I am sharing this because if it helps my babies... it may help others. I used the smallest needle I could find, and only .5cc for the injection.

WOW I am jealous! Your place looks amazing!

Hey everyone! I'm new here and just found this thread! I live outside of Winston Salem on a tiny homestead.

This was taken last year. I still have the rooster, Ruffles, and the hen, Peaches, on the far right. Dorris in the back middle was killed by a raccoon and Floppsy in the front was stomped by my donkey :(

This is a recent pic of Peaches and her chick Plum.
I bought them as RIR's but Peaches was always lighter (hence the name) and has a ring of black tipped feathers around her neck. Do you guys think she is a mutt or just pretty?

I can't wait to get to know everyone!
