Im hoping that between him and the BLRW I'm getting from Amy, Ill have a good replacement for Ducky. Just don't want to cull him before I have a good boy to replace him cause of the hawks and everything else we have lurking around this neighborhood.
The new boy needs a cutesy name... Hes wandering around my living room now, just don't tell my mom!

Ain't he just adorkable?

So I had another predator attack tonight..... and Yes, my 1st thought/reaction was that Ladybug did it.
Heard a commotion in the barnyard....raced out there with DD. Ducks & Geese all scattered around. Turn lights on, start rounding up and DD finds mangled Muscovy hen. I pick her up and get her in a crate....both DD & I are covered in blood. Lady is following us around, I look down and realize that she has not a drop of blood on her. So glad it was not her.
Check for break in point and realized that the bags of pine needles that we lined the fence with a wind block, had made it very easy to hop the fence. It is only 4 ft back there. My Bad !!
But did notice that Lady is marking her territory along the fence too. Good dog !
The ducks neck is chewed up good. Lost skin and muscle...stopped bleeding and is calm in a crate in the house. Tomorrow I will put some SWAP on and move her outside to a big crate.

Deja vu....a couple months ago, lost 11 ducks and chickens to the dang fox...all had their necks chewed up.

Waiting for Lady to grow up ....lets see that fox enter my barnyard then !!!!

I am so glad that cute, fuzzy pup wasn't guilty.... She will definately be a big help to your predator problem when she gets old enough.
I am so glad it didn't cause major damage.
GO LADYBUG!

So...heard the fox calling out back. I took one of my big inside dogs out for a walkabout. I have really underestimated my fuu fuu dogs ! She put her nose down, hair and tail up and tracked to the back behind the grapevines...there the fence is pushed down, laying in the grapes.

We totally missed that, we we looking for holes under the fence.

So sorry for that evil fox coming back!!

Thank you though for sharing what a fox sounds like...I have never heard one before. I think we have bobcats as I always hear what sounds like a scream outside but so far nothing has shown up (aside from our hawk). I hope Ladybug gets bigger/stays awake for you soon!!

We are here for you if you need us!! (Also, I have a rifle you can borrow...it's a bit trickier than a shotgun, but less chance of hitting other things...or in my case, less chance of hitting anything!!)

Good Morning, Everyone!

Beth, sorry the fox came back, but I'm very glad you heard and saved your duck and possibly others. Ladybug will be doing her job soon.

Hubby did all the chores for me this morning...I took another hard fall yesterday and damaged both ankle and knee, plus managed to ding that broken toe and make it yelp. This lack of muscular coordination is starting to be a royal PIA, but I will content myself with being glad I didn't break anything this time. And the employees at Pizza Hut where I fell were extraordinarily helpful. One young man who was off duty but had just come to show off his new baby to his coworkers actually picked my bulk up off the floor and got me back on my feet! And the manager had stepped out so these were the regular worker-bees. They weren't just worried about lawsuits; they were kind.

Tomorrow we kill all the chickens. We'd do it today if hubby didn't have three meetings today. He's just left for the first one. I'm not going to enjoy tomorrow at all, but in the long run it'll be better. I've been preparing myself for this for a while now.

It looks like a lovely day out there, so I hope it's a good one for everyone!
