I am looking to buy up to 10 black copper marans hens/ pullets/ sexed chicks and One or two (preferably two) Lavender Orp roos/ cockerels here in NC. I am in Vass/ Southern Pines. I can drive a bit If needed. They will be free range pets.

All com-on like to get them before then. Like first of the year. Might be crowing by then. She also has sultans but she is having trouble with their feet bleeding from the feathers. Love their combs.

I am serious. Silkies are hard to sex, I would think by 4-6 months old you may be able to sex them. They get streamers, but that is not foolproof. So crowing come first.

I also read that you can tell by how they stand. Males will stand with their head high, neck extended and females will stand lower with their necks scrunched up. At what age this applies beats me but if proved true for me. My silkie always walked around with her head low and neck "collapsed", it was verified this week when she laid her first egg!! Like everyone has said the only way to be sure is to wait, sorry...
