North Carolina

Took me all day, but got the 2nd coat on the coop and run today. Was colder this morning than I thought. Had to come in and put an extra shirt under my "paint" shirt and wore gloves to paint. The wire goes up around the run tomorrow. Got 2 roosting posts put up in the coop. Have to get some more wood for the poop boards. The scrap we have left isn't wide enough. Have a few cosmetic things to get done too. Should be ready for moving day in another week. Looking great! Very stirdy too. Thanks to Bill, my builder!

my feed went up cost over 50 for two bags of feed this is getting silly... and its all junk full of gmo and soy which is all bad for you

ikr!!!!! if my allergies werent so bad i would go out in the field and pick the grass seeds off of the rye grass to feed my chickens!!!

x2!! I don't think I have EVER been this excited to see eggs in the coop. I did my little egg dance yesterday when I picked up THREE in the morning, then DH went out last night to do late night checks...and he finds our FIRST OLIVE egg...all this time I thought she was laying, and it just wasn't olive...turns out...she had a surprise for us!!

That also means our little BSL (who doesn't LOOK old enough) has actually been laying!!

We're suppose to have beautiful weather on Saturday, so I hope everyone is able to turn on the "chicken TV" tomorrow and fully enjoy it!! I am (once the fence is finished) setting everyone free this weekend (laying is "routine" now) including the younger girls and I am going to try to lock them all up together - keeping a few of the boys separate!! We've decided to expand the big coop and that way we can have a meat side and a "normal" side...LOL. We're doing this so we can lock up No Name Rooster (ie BIG MEATY BSL) with some of the freedom ranger females and then we'd have excellent meat birds...IF it works out...LOL.

Have a wonderful day everyone!!

ETA: This is a non-chicken question, but I thought some of you might know...I'm looking for recommendations for a Pediatrician for our kids...if anyone knows of any that aren't TOO far (remember I'll have a newborn this summer) from Johnston County/Raleigh, please let me know...Bonus: if they are OKAY with non-vaccinated children (long story short - we can't vaccinate one due to complications and she would need to be separated from the rest for 2 weeks per vaccine, so we decided to forgo it for all.). Thank you in advance!!

I have a good friend in Raleigh/Durham area, I know she did delayed vaccines and some alternate schedules with her son, and plans to do the same with the new baby, Let me ask her who she uses, and PM you. Remind me in a few days if I forget...LOL, night shift brain not always the most prompt.

Thank you so much!!

Really, you all are THE BEST!! I appreciate each and every one of you trying to help/guide us in not only the area of chickens, but in other areas as well. If I could hug you all, I would, but most of you are too far away and these days my belly makes that too difficult anyway!! LOL I kid, I kid (okay, only partially...I do feel HUGE this time around!! LOL)

Busy day ahead for us...DH is already outside working on fencing!! Shhhh!! I'm working on diapers!! Since DH "forgot" to separate the chickens being processed today and fed them last night, I think we're going to wait until this afternoon to "do the deed" and place them in the juvi pen - once we let those girls out! Should be an interesting series of events - Especially since he wants to (in the spirit of our oldest) "do it all by himself". LOL I wrote that and I could hear our DD saying "no mommy, I do it...I do it all by MYSELF"! LOL. Well, it's 7:30am...suppose to be in the 70's today...hope you all have a wonderful day and get a LOT of chicken TV time in!! :) Me, I'm signing up for some duck TV!!

Looking forward to a good warm day of working outside and seeing my coop run get fencing in place. Kinda cloudy here in Hickory - hope the sun burns off those cloudy skies soon.
Have a good day all!
