Always enjoy the grandbabies doing the egg hunt.
We do use those plastic ones so there are NO
surprise finds later in the summer. We always count
the eggs before we hide them but it always seems
one or so end up missing.......especially since the
kids like to rehide them afterwards to find them
again...........always love those holidays for the kids

REALLY don't know where to post this question, so...

One of our roosters got his wing ripped off. Not sure when it happened (he and the other one had started fighting and we were going to send one to freezer camp), but I'm pretty sure it wasn't like that yesterday. My hubby killed him so he's not suffering anymore. We were going to pluck and eat him, but after plucking the area around the wing, it looks bruised (green skin, no odor). Do you think we shouldn't eat it after all?

I wouldn't, unless I knew for sure when it happened, and how. The "how" part, because I would want to know what toxins or chemicals it may have been exposed to.

On the other hand, I know lots of people who wouldn't hesitate. I may be too paranoid. But I only eat roadkill I saw get hit!

sorry about your rooster. I do know that there's people on here who have 1 winged chickens for varying reasons

Thanks. I cried. He couldn't get up to his roost, and the other rooster was chasing him off the "table" that some of the chickens use to sleep on, pecking him and trying to rip his other wing off. I couldn't let it go on. We decided to keep the leg meat and breast meat, and toss the rest. My hubby will most likely be the one eating it, not me. :(
