Not too long ago I was faced with the same issue. I started out with 2 feeders, but the adult chickens were eating all the chick food...and during the time everyone was eating the chick food my eggs became half a size larger, so I switched everyone to flock raiser with oyster shell on the side. I'm getting bigger eggs and all the chickens are happy...and all ages after 7 weeks can eat itI have some 13 weeks old pullets and I need to move them into the coop. Running out of space in the shed. I know I could put them in the coop but I have layer crumbles in there for my girls right now. If I try to put two different feeders in there, one with grower, I don't think that would work out. Any ideas? You guys seem to have more expeirence with babys in this forum. Would it hurt them to go ahead and let them eat the layer?

Good Monday Morning everyone!! It's suppose to be beautiful today and tomorrow - I hope you are able to get outside and enjoy the sunshine a little, and turn on a healthy dose of chicken TV!!
Aside from cleaning and some baking, I think today and tomorrow are going to be spend all day outside and just run/play days!
Non-chicken question: ANY ideas for a <insert sniffles> FIRST birthday cake? DD1 is allergic to soy, dairy and is sensitive to certain fruits.... DD2 (the bday girl) is allergic to bananas & soy (yay for allergies). I wanted to make cupcakes (so one could be her "smash cake") but I just can't seem to find one that uses natural (no boxed/processed) ingredients and doesn't call for bananas or something else they can't have as a binder...suggestions?? Thank you in advance!!
I have some brahma x brahma chicks. the roo is dark and hens of all color so some full blood darks. PM me if you're interestedAdvice please?
A friend and I are looking for small numbers of specific breeds in the NC Sandhills area (I'm in Moore, she's in Hoke). She wants EE and RIR, I want Delaware, Australorp, Light Brahma, or Dark Brahma -- 4 hens in a combination of these breeds -- and wouldn't say no Silver-gray Dorkings or to Silver-laced Wyandottes if they were southern-bred and OK with the heat (I was told that Wyandottes often don't do well in the steamy southeast).
Any recommendations for getting chicks or started pullets in these breeds in our general area?
