If you click on the link, there is another page for deer... I think it may be a mixture of all of the methods for rabbits, raccoons, etc. Deer are tricky though, they are willing to do anything for a fresh nibble. I'd have to say there's a bow and arrow for those. They taste real nice on my table!

Thanks for the offer! I will check out the link.

When we first moved to the country, I told my DH the "pet deer" in the front yard were off limits. After losing too many plants to the hungry little buggers, he has full access to take as many as he wants and of course legally can. Of course it is not their fault, they are losing habitat every day. I figure the more hunters harvest the fewer we will see on the side of the road hit by cars.

Completely off topic here...does anyone play Bunco? I used to, and have a few Bunco things to pass on, if someone within range wants them. Not something I'd want to mail.

When I had chickens, they would hate the rain, but instead of going in the coop they would hang out all day on my patio and poop everywhere!!!

I have no idea what Bunco is.

Starting to lose my mind, still haven't heard word from my husband!

Looks like it's finally starting to clear up over here on the rain, I'll go check the gardens.

Every time I have thought of going outside today it has started pouring again! Other than letting the chickens out at around 6, and checking the rain gauge once I have not stepped foot outside. I feel like I am wasting a day off! Now we are getting thunder and lightning! What a day...

On another topic, does anyone want easter egger/olive egger chicks? I just committed to buying 20 chicks this weekend. I have 20 ee/oe babies that are just over 2 weeks old and 33 ee/oe eggs in the incubator with another 12 lav am eggs going in when the power comes back on (it just went out). The lav am's will not be for sale! The ee babies are from a black am roo over barred rock, rhode island red/game, and ee hens. OE babies are from a Blue Marans roo over a partridge oe, and silver am hens. The two week old babies are black, blue and some are starting to show barring. I also have two blue wheaten ams.

OOHH...Does he also do on site processing?? LOL We have TONS of deer around, but neither my DH nor I actually know how to process deer!! Sadly, we probably won't be able to feed the DD any of the deer because they've been in the neighbors' soy fields and she would probably have an allergic reaction. Still...if those buggers get into my garden, I might offer you an "all you can carry" kind of deal!!

LOL

Went outside during a lull to let everyone out - found TWO duck eggs in the nesting box!! Now I am trying to decide if I should incubate them to see how fertile they are, or just continue to give them away. I have almost 2 dozen duck eggs just sitting on the counter, waiting for me to do something with them. Any ideas?? After checking on chickens/ducks and collecting morning eggs...came back inside to find my 2.5yo had decided that she would see how much toilet paper she can stuff into the toilet and flush it. My bathroom is flooded, the toilet is clogged and my pregnant hormones are all over the place....threw some towels on the floor to sop up the floodgates, put her to bed and just walked away...I haven't been back in that bathroom yet today...LOL Then again, I've been working on a graduation sheet cake, so I really haven't had the time nor the energy to - I figure when she wakes up from her nap, she can fish out all the toilet paper and put it into a bucket and then scrub the floor as well as wash all the towels that were used...somehow I think she will find the "punishment" more fun than actual work though!!

Yes, he kills, and processes them for us. He is always getting better, but it is quite a process. He would be MORE than happy to handle some of the population for y'all! He is mostly a bow hunter, so that can be done {mostly} anywhere. PM me if you want any more info. I told him and he almost came unglued because he LOVES his hunting, and we LOVE our deer meat!

It sounds like you handled it well! Probably better than I would have... OMG.. I can't even imagine.

Hi Everyone, I hope you don't mind if I join this conversation.  I am located in Sanford (between Fayetteville and Raleigh).  Just picked up some lavender ameraucana hatching eggs from Coop Scoop Boogie this afternoon.  Can't want for the little guys to hatch!  Tammy

I am in Sanford too! Welcome!

'Oh, hey Mom! Thanks for the new roost.. errr... feeder'
Too cute! Thanks for sharing.

I hope everyone made it through the storm. After dumping my overflowing rain gauge at 900 this morning I checked it again this evening and dumped another 3"!

The garden is sufficiently watered... most of my veggie plants appear to have doubled in size.
