Yes! I've got Isbars. I've got a splash hen and 3 cockerels - a blue, a black and a splash. My pullet has been laying for about 5 weeks now but I haven't put her in with a cockerel to get fertile eggs yet. The cockerels are pretty feisty but the pullet has come around now that she is laying. She is still not the friendliest but she doesn't avoid me any longer. I hatched them out from shipped eggs. They have been very healthy and are certainly beautiful. She lays a mossy green colored egg that sometimes has speckles. She is a sneaker and will try her best to roost in a tree beside our house at night. I have to make sure she goes in the coop or she will go to that tree in a heartbeat.

Really?? That's what happens when you just look a photos!! BOO!! Okay, who wants to start a LF D'Uccle project?? I'll be first in line to give the boys a home!!

I am SO sorry for your loss. It has been a bad summer for some of us - I am praying things get better for you!!
MEANIE!! Now I want to add ALL of these to my flock, and all I'm suppose to be looking for is a rooster!! LOL...
Just so you know...we ARE neighbors (well as neighbor as one can be when you live in the boonies...LOL) and if you ever need anything, please let me know!! I will do my best (you may have to put up with 3 *adorable* little girls, but...) to lend a hand!!

My do that ALL the time...well, minus the flying off to the neighbors' as we don't really have neighbors. LOL

Got my email confirmation from Freedom Rangers (NICE people by the way) and my birds will be shipped out on the 21st and be here by that Friday! Any TIPS for me...we've never ordered chicks before. Will they be okay in an outdoor brooder with a heat lamp? Aside from giving them water right away, do I need to do anything special?? I am SUPER excited (and NERVOUS)...although, I guess we need to get busy fixing up the coops and such. Good thing the hubby is taking a few days off next week (that's because HIS mother will be here..AHHHH) - guess we can send him AND her outside to do some work. LOL. We should have ducklings hatching next week - assuming during the attack, the eggs were not harmed...I do know that mama is still sitting and "talking" to the eggs, so I am hopeful!! Once they hatch, they will be moved to the NEW location!!
If anyone knows of someone in my area that is GOOD at working on lawnmowers, please let me know...Hubby and I kind of/sort of...well, it's broken. LOL. I thought I broke it, but DH "fixed" what I did and ended up killing the engine somehow.

It will fire up just not turn over (battery, spark plugs, fuel lines, filters all checked)...needless to say our yard really IS turning into a Meadow!!
One last thing...any canners out there?? I'm looking for a recipe to make a SMALL batch of pickles (I can't touch them and DH only eats them on his burgers) but all the ones I have call for TONS of cucumbers, etc... I apologize for my brain being all over the place - I blame it on lack of sleep and...lack of sleep! LOL
Have a great day everyone!!
Dill pickles? I have some of last years canned, will be happy to bring some when I head to the beach this weekend, I come near the general vicinity of you.

Contemplating running up to the store after seeing the powerball jackpot total for the drawing tonight.... You know how many fabulous chickens I could get for $425 million!!!!!

A man who lives like 6 miles from me won 4 million just like this past weekend! I would love to have that but not to be selfish with but to start my own animal shelter and pay off my family's bills and mine and DH. I'd also pay for needy families spaying and neutering for their animals. :)

Off to do jury duty today, I'd rather clean the coops or even clean the house instead of fight for a parking space down at the court house

. At least I have remembered a book this time to read and I'll get a few hours without the kiddos (thanks dad

My young frizzle roo is acting weird. Hes lost weight and is really skinny. He kinda wobbles and sometimes stumbles. I have given Duramycin in the water and alternate with vitamins. What else can I give him to put some weight on him?

I have had an orpington rooster, after about 1 1/2 yrs old he started to get mean, I have had to deal with a few jersey giants and australorps roosters, all of which where great. Come to think of it a jersey giant comes in black, blue which means splash and in white. They are a very clam bird and big

... more to add to your list

BIG MEANIE!! How am I to narrow down this list if you all keep helping to ADD more to the list?? LOL Although a JG would be a good dual purpose one as I hear they get BIG (after a year or two??)...I wonder if it would be TOO big for my girls though...LOL Wouldn't want to traumatize them?!?

Thank you for the offer, but I am literally overrun with cucumbers this year and I don't want them to go to waste. I'm trying to learn HOW to can (I failed miserably the last time I tried...my water turned cloudy white and I was too afraid to test them) and find a small recipe for pickles as no one here is a HUGE fan of them, but I thought if I could make small pint jars of pickle chips, I could give them to friends/family and keep a few in the pantry for when we have cookouts and such (DH will ONLY eat pickles on burgers). Thank you again, you are sweet!!

I received my email from Freedom Rangers!! Our new babies will be shipped out on the 21st of this month and should be here by that Friday. So, in preparation...WHAT do I need to do? Would these kiddos be okay outside under a heat lamp or do I NEED to keep them indoors for some time? I have instructions from the Hatchery, but all it does is tell me about temperatures (95 for a week then weekly decrease by 5 degrees)...also how do you know what the temperature IS under a heat lamp?? Do you just stick a thermometer in there?!? I am SO NERVOUS about these babies...we've only had babies via a broody OR older babies (1-2 months old) from awesome BYC'ers!!

Maybe I'm not ready for this adventure...LOL
