North Carolina

The year really has flown. I'll be glad to see the end of this semester, too. I'm exhausted! But we get five whole weeks before we start back. That'll give me time to do all the stuff I need to get done before we start back. I hope.

I've got POL birds out there too, and I'm wondering if they'll wait until spring. The Orpingtons usually just start laying, but they're known for being good winter layers. I'm really wanting to see what the Welsummers do over winter. This is my first winter with them. Right now they seem to be laying every other day. The Ameraucanas are laying well, and so are the EEs.

I had someone at work tell me they haven't purchased eggs from me, because they're so pretty they wouldn't eat them! I told them how to blow eggs, so they're going to try a dozen! How funny!

Enjoy your day.

I have had several POLs that should have started laying towards the end of fall wait till spring before they started. It's a pain, but I look at it this way, the ones I don't want because of egg color, I'll will get a better price in spring than fall/ winter anyways, so I'm just as happy to leave them to it.

No eggs for me at all!
I was really hoping my girls born in June would have started by now, but no such luck!
I guess I should be glad the rooster hasn't started crowing as I haven't found them a home?
Really want some eggs though!!!

She does know that they'll lay more, right? :gig. :)

Blowing eggs means to remove the insides, leaving the shell intact. You drill a tiny hole to blow the contents out through. Sometimes two holes, depending on your method.
