Totally floored me! Murphy does not love everyone like that. He's usually quite content to allow people to pet him. In fact, in his nearly 6 years, I have seen him bestow such affection on exactly two other non-family members. But he's a real good judge of character.

I enjoyed your visit yesterday, you and RF and her Number 1 Son. Wish we could have visited longer, but hard when we're all so busy. We need to make it a point to have a bit of a gather in December. A potluck, perhaps? Whatcha think?

I'm game for a potluck! :D Would be great to put faces to all the awesome peeps on here. I'll even offer up my digs for it if it would help. I don't observe Christmas so I reckon I'm a tad less busy in December than most of y'all. Plus, DH will be gone for all of December and half of January so it'll be a good distraction for me and the boys.

Hey coop...I have a "pet" for you..warm, fuzzy, always smiling...lots of teeth and a long tail. I call him Hisssss..

I wouldn't take a million dollars for him but I like you so much I'll give him to you!!!

I have raised a few of those.......I am a wildlife rehabilitor and possums is one of my favs.

But I'll admit at that size it's best released in a nice wooded area.......I can do that for you

Hollow, I think you were the one that said your cats and opossums would all eat cat food together?
I saw this today and it reminded me of that :)
I always heard raccoons were mean!

. Cute! They certainly can be mean, but that just means defensive!

. Hey, I came up with the idea! My part is done...aside from cooking for it, that is.

(We get this far at least once a year, don't we! LOL!)

If I put one of those wildlife traps in my run for when I go out of town for a couple days do you think my chickens would go in it and get stuck???
Maybe I should just leave it in the yard, but thought it may be less inclined to go in....

I somehow didn't realize they couldn't fly at all (don't know how I didn't notice this with my last silkies) so she couldn't get up on the roost with the rest. I was planning on building a ladder type thing so she could hop up, but hadn't gotten to it yet. Do you sell silkie pullets? I get so attached to them and can't keep roosters so I hate getting straight run chicks and then having to give them away when they turn out to be boys :(

Ordered one, should be here Tuesday. Didn't realize how expensive they were, so only got one. Have to figure out the most strategic way to place it. I hope I can catch how whatever this thing is is getting in my pen. Everyone alive & well this morning, guess because they sleep up on the roost. I was looking for footprints, but never found any.

Wild-- Sending prayers for your pup, hope he starts improving!!!
yea i have a few hens i could get rid of

Alright, I'll do it. We'll consider it my initiation.

I was a meeting space coordinator in a past life.

Anyone who wants to come, PM me and we'll start by picking a date and location. I'll give you until this time next week to give your votes for dates/times/locations. Once I get a good idea of who wants to come I can triangulate a central-ish location. So far it's looking like it'll be the Piedmont Potluck.

I'm thinking maybe December 15th? It's a Sunday, not too close to Christmas but far enough away from now to allow time for planning. Thoughts?

The possum is relocated to a nice wooded field area away from my place. Didn't have the heart to dispatch him like I have before. BUT if he comes back...BANG BANG !

Neighbor's years getting ravaged by a hen and chicks, she found the owner and asked.him to come get them, been here two weeks so I set a cage up to trap them. Guess he doesn't care about them so I may have a few additions to my flock..

Quote: I would love to participate but December is an extremely busy month for me with church and family. Let me know when you plan another one!!

I said I like SNOW.....I didn't say anything about sleet or freezing rain!!!!!!

Does anyone use a cookie tin heater? Are they safe? Could you use it outside or just in the coop?

I hope everyone stays safe and warm today.
