North Carolina

Our campus closes at 12:30. I had an exam at 9:30. It was barely snowing when I left, and I assumed since I was heading South it would improve. Wrong. It was a winter wonderland down there, with it starting to stick to pavement. I almost fell going in! So I emailed my class and postponed the exam, as well as just canceling class. Then I packed up my computer and left. I'll get a bunch of work done while I'm off, but I didn't want anyone having a wreck because of my exam. And the ice was even worse on the way out. My cane slid out from under me, and if I hadn't fallen back into the wall, I would have been down. I carefully got off the pavement into the snow covered grass and made it to my car without mishap.

So, now I'm at home, and it's snowy out. The dogs played in it until they were exhausted, so they are all snoring. I think I need to put on a vat of French onion soup, put a beef roast in the oven to slow cook, and make an apple pie. Cold weather always makes me want to cook! Come by in a couple hours and I'll feed you!

I'm with you RF! My kids are making me crazy! I just hauled all the little people out into the living room, hoping this keeps them occupied long enough for me to get some cleaning done! I told DH to stop on the way home & get me some wine! One of them is already down there crying!

I looked on pinterest for ideas for the kids to do, but all of it involves paint, messes, & a lot of adult prep! I don't know how people homeschool their kids, I can't make it a few days!

Dutchbunny, one of the things I did when my kids were little to keep them from totally destroying my house was to make a toy library. They could have only so many things out at one time. They had to return toys to check out something else. That meant that they had to clean up what they had done before so they could turn them in! It worked well for my two.
