North Carolina

I think I will candle them...and check. I have seen no movement or peeping..so I doubt it.

I just knew something was wrong, I should have popped open those pips last night .... dang it!!!

NH... pip is the first little hole the chick makes... the zipp is when the chick is unzippering the shell. Also you can get any size chick here in NC. Bantams are small , LF (large fowl) are bigger. I have both all running together.

I will just have to go outside and get some new picture.... I'm so sad right now. I need some cheer up time with my flock. You can get English Orp. here. HT has them, I think she just got them.

but I have read if they come from a top breeder of calls you may have to help them hatch - due to the short bills.. they either can't pip the shell completely or even zip it.. I have heard to give several hours (from the internal pip) and if they haven't pip a large enough hole to breath you should make one for them

you probably already know this but just thought I would mention it

Yup the other 2 were dead... one was a stink bomb in the making, could smell as soon as I took it out of the hatcher. The other no movement and just some bubbles & junk floating around.

Ok, so I just looked them up and saw that they have a classroom kit. I am going to HAVE to show my husband and who knows...we might just be able to deduct one from our taxes as a school expense!!

Either way...I think I am going to HAVE to get one!!

Thank you!!

HT - is it true that you have some English Orps? Do you plan on selling any in the future? If you ever do, PLEASE

PLEASE let me know!! We don't have our coop up and running yet, but we are hoping to have it done before April!!

A BYC'er that's been assisting me suggested some older pullets (not sure if I am using the right terminology) rather than chicks to get us started.

now to find people in NC that have some of the other ones on my list!!

Yes I have some English orps. They are not 100% but very English typey rather than American. I have been showing my cockerel and doing very well, he took English Champion as the last Morganton show and will be going to the show tomorrow as well. I have their first offspring in the brooder right now at a week old, and a couple more eggs due to hatch today.

My cockerel at only 8 months
