Good morning folks

The temps had cooled down to the point of good and warm but not
Hades hot.........until these days coming up......just in time for kids to
be back on those buses that are like one of those toy ovens sold for
kids to bake little desserts in. There is going to be a lot of whining and
groaning going on in the bus lots......and then there will be kids added
to that. I'm already hearing lots of it.......guess I should stop it.

hope everyone has a good day

Yea, just opened the chickens...its nice this morning...supposed to get humid which means the big return of the gnats! I have a goal today of digging at least one but hopefully 2 postholes.. Then tomorrow I could quickcrete those 2 poles. Got 2 done already. A little at a time!!

Since I don't have kids....don't think I don't have a lot of memories. One grand goes back Monday, the Va grands go back after Labor day!

What are you doing with them? How far are you from Rocky Mount?
I'm about an hour from RM. They will be given a good life until they are kindly put in my freezer. :)

Usually when someone is offering to take surplus roosters...normally hard to get rid of....they are going in the freezer. There's really not much other use for them. I don't think Doubleatraining is into training cock fight birds with bait birds.

There's a chicken processing plant just over from me in Robeson county, and it doesn't affect local poultry owners at all. I don't expect the one off 53 to be a problem. Although. I'm in Cumberland county, I'm just inside the county line, so far closer to the Mountaire plant in Robeson. There are also commercial growers on the street behind me, which has not been cause for concern, either.

LOL yes no cock fighting here. They are given a nice life running around the yard and annoying the neighbors until they are needed and kindly put in the freezer to feed my family or the LGDs. :)

Hi all.

I had a stroke and was in the hospital awhile, so haven't been around.
I've decided to sell off all of my animals besides a select few, it's just too much for me to deal with.
If anyone is interested or knows of a swap or something (no auctions) please let me know.

I also have some free cockerels for pick up in Fayetteville/Raeford area.

Hope everyone is doing well. I was enjoying this cooler weather looks like it's back to our typical hot Augusts. DH said 100 next week.

Dutchbunny..I'm so sorry about your stroke!! So scary! I've had 2TIA's but both times they got to them quickly and had no bleeds...some rehabbing but it just makes me feel like a ticking time bomb! Please take care of yourself. I'm working on my run..but only a little at a time because of that! Already had a balance problem..look like a drunk out there sometimes!! LOLOL

@dutchbunny83 , sorry to hear about your stroke, please follow Dr orders and take it easy!

What kind of chickens will you be letting go?

I got to see a doe with 3 babies walk across the road around 10:30 this morning. Well not so much babies any more since they no longer had their spots. Just wish I had the kiddos with me so they could have seen them too.

Wow! Rare to see three "babies" :)
I saw what looked like two does and two "babies" walking through my woods this morning which is definitely not as cool as what you saw! :)

Usually, I agree. I do know some folks who got freebie roos for their flocks and not for eating. In my case, while I have 15 boys, I'd rather not eat the bantams or the EE and SLW cockerels I need to get rid of. The EE escaped processing day, but I figure if they are going to be eaten, they might as well go into my freezer.... :(
