My 2 Dominiques are not very good. But I also had the 2 Buckeyes, and 5 silkies. I'm waiting for my NPIP / AI testing to be rescheduled before I go out of SC. So if I have the testing before then I may go to Cape fear. Next month will be Anderson (Clemson) and Dec 6th Sandlappers (at Barnwell, SC).

The Cape Fear club puts on the show in Smithfield, NC on
Dec. 13 so maybe you will make it to that one. There is the
bird show, raffle table, 50-50 raffle and folks selling birds
outside too like at Pee Dee. Makes for an interesting day.

I had the blue sumatra hen at the Pee Dee show....she
did well but it was a small group so.........

@InvertedKitty haha thanks, I'm glad you think so! I think my drake thinks he's a chicken! I always heard/read that ducks don't roost but mine sure does! :)

Good morning folks

I'm liking the cooler nights as it is easier to sleep but
not so cold yet as to be painful. I need to get at least
one more go-round on the lawn with the mower so I
can leaf blow and not have it tangle in tall grass and
need to think about pruning some bushes too.........

and then there are Christmas lights to plan out.......

hope everyone has a good day

I would be curious to know, since I am not looking at showing chickens if the breeders sell any non show birds. .. kind of like dog shows. I would love to take the family down to check out breeds before we buy a few!

Yes, some will. They call these cull birds. Some won't sell cull birds as whoever buys them might turn around and sell chicks or hatching eggs off of the birds using the original breeders name to sell them. Of course that's a whole other can of worms in its self right there. But there is a sale area outside of this show where people do sell birds and other items. A show is also good for seeing a lot of different breeds and most of the breeders will tell you about their breeds so you can see if that breed will fit what you want in a chicken. If you have ever seen or felt how big a hatchery bird like a rock, brahma, or giant is and than see one from a true breeder, you will be shocked at the size difference. This show is a good way to spend a day or part of a day for the whole family, mine loves it. Hope this helps you out some.
