North Carolina

We've got coyotes, bears, foxes, weasels, bobcats, raccoons, and Baptists ;) here in Swannanoa. The bears aren't that big of a deal. The others can be a problem. We've also got a very healthy hawk population - red tailed hawks and sharp shinneds are most common. It's all just part of life in the mountains.

Tonight is that fun night for kids, young and older.
Anyone out driving needs to be mindful of the lil'
boogers running about from house to house. I love
seeing all the different costumes and excited kids.
Some of the costumes are quite good. It should be
a boootiful evening for spooking.

hope everyone has a good day

Yeah mine are going as a dragon, a spider, and a skunk. I love how my kids don't want the run of the mill costumes, but it can make it hard in trying to make the one they want. I gotta give my mom a big THANKS for all her help in making their costumes over the years. Last year we even seen a few others in homemade costumes and they were great! Have fun everyone.

Wow! I had to catch up to 40 posts! It's been a fun week at work and I haven't been online much. Then I realized that I needed to not be online as much! I actually get more stuff done when I turn the social networks off! Whodathunk?

Welcome to the new folks!

Had a few hawks lately dine on some of my cockerels. At least they haven't bothered the girls and they have only taken surplus. There's one I wish they hadn't taken but oh, well. There are now more hides in the pasture, so the open smorgasboard is over. (my hides...pallets on legs. The chickens can run under to hide. I didn't have enough in the bachelor pad pasture, it seems.)

Enjoy Halloween! Be safe!

Nothing like hearing what sounds like a big dog running up behind you as you fill up the outside cat/ wild bird water dish only to turn and see that it's a male squirrel. Have to admit, he defiantly didn't mind me being a few feet away as he got a good drink.
