it was on my calendar to go but I couldn't talk the rest of the fam into it! Granted it would have been about 2 hrs drive for us though.

Did you go? Does it really wrap up at 12?

I sold out by 10 am, So I left at 11 am after I walked around and didn't see any thing I specifically needed. I tried to notice what others were enthusiastically purchasing or needed for next spring.

Just birds and hatching eggs, it was my first time ever at such and event and I sold my chickens quite a bit lower than everyone else. So I got swarmed. My Ayam cemani Females were $40 and my mixed breed birds that I just wanted to get rid of sold for $5. I had other birds that sold for $10 or $20 depending how I valued them. I also gave away my Dorking Hatching eggs for free to a lady very enthusiastic about the breed. I couldn't sell them because the mortality rate is so high with my line of Dorkings, I told her that I would just be happy if she could get them to survive and suggested she cross them if any survive then breed the crosses back to the Dorkings and to help them gain genetic diversity needed to save the breed. I sold my Ayam Cemani Hatching eggs for $10 (9 count) all others were sold for $5 (6 count). I sold out of Silver Leghorn hatching eggs, Naked Neck Hatching eggs and Ayam Cemani Hatching eggs. I only had Dominiques left. The Naked Neck chicks were the fastest chicks to sell. They were my culls from my breeding project. I only keep the (recessive) white ones from my recent hatches. The ones I sold were 1/4 Red Rangers because I wanted them a little bigger and mature a little faster so they make a decent table Dual Purpose bird. The ones I made so far are not laying as well as I wanted but still lay well. I gave away my white toe Ayam Cemani Chicks to anyone who purchased something, a guy who had already bought an Ayam Cemani Rooster bought a female from me and took the free ones. I sold the Ayam Cemani chicks without white toes for $5 a piece and one lady bought them all so I lowered the price for taking them all at once (less work for me). I thought about selling the cages I made to transport them in but I love them so much I kept them. The were made suitable for Rabbits with the right type of floor for rabbits. I need more rooster jails anyways so aggressive cockerels can fill out after I sentence them to Camp Freezer for harassing the ladies too hard.

Sounds like you did great at the chickenstock!! Now you know for spring that you should do well, and you can take even more! I'm hoping I can talk the fam into coming with me for the next one. Not sure that I'd be purchasing much, just would enjoy admiring all that everyone has to offer! There aren't any shows or big swaps any closer to me that I know of, so we'll make a weekend of it! @shookpoultry is a member here! They may know of more members that attended.

Now the problem is...what to do with all that extra money! Most people here would say get more birds...I say go get a drink or two...I'm sure you dealt with some characters today...

I have been getting my feed here lately. I go right to the feed plant and fill up my van 50 pound bags of quality Chicken Feed for around $12 a bag. I even get higher protein feed for just a slight bit more. Its nice to get high protein feed for well under $15. I wish I remembered the price per bag. I thought I would share this feed mill with everyone. Really nice folks working there too.

Flock Finisher Pellets $11 (percentage not listed I can ask next time I go)
21% Natural Layer (pellets or Crumble) $11.50 (that's what I get since its so cheap I upgraded)
28% Game Bird (Crumbles or Pellets) $13

They have other feeds too Pig, Cow, Goat, Rabbit, and even stuff like Grit, Oyster Shell, Feed ingredients, Dog food, Minerals, different hay bales Epsom Salt etc etc etc
