North Carolina

I'm in Apex (for the rest of the month) and then we're moving to Carthage 🙋‍♀️

I've got 4 Muscovy drakes that I can't keep any longer. My girls need a break. I knew this was going to come eventually once I realized how many males/females I had. I've learned my lesson on straight run 🤷‍♀️
1 is 6 months old and the others are 4 months old. They are HUGE! The oldest one is a porker!
If anyone is interested let me know!

Hi!!
I'm moving to Carthage next week! I wouldn't mind a couple more hens if you still have some. I have four HUGE Muscovy drakes if you're interested. 3 are four months old and the other is 6 months old.
I came here to post the ducks but wanted to stop and say hi neighbor! 🙋‍♀️

Welcome, new neighbor!

We've lived in Carthage for a little over a year and love it.

I'm so glad to hear that!! We've been wanting to get away from Apex for a while and I'm so happy we are finally doing it! We bought a house built in 1900 and the coffee place is a 15 minute walk away. It's going to be crazy moving 9 ducks and 7 chickens but I'm excited!

Hello everyone, quick question. What are some hardy dual purpose pure breed breeds that do well in the NC hot humid weather?
I think this summer has been really hot so far and all of mine have done well. I make sure that they have multiple water sources that I add to during the day, cold treats like Frozen peas and watermelon (they literally go insane over it), shaded areas and I have a fan in their coop. I also let the hose run under their shady spots so they can have a cooler spot to lay in.

Having said ALL of that..😝

I have Americaunas, an Olive Egger, RIRs and Gold Stars.

Ok thank you. We just have four 19 month old Isa Brown hens and one Americana cockerel and of course our ducks. LOL

Yes I do all of that also to help them with the extra warm humid weather along with electrolytes in their water from time to time.

I was just curious if there was a specific breed of chook that people preferer in this southern climate over other breeds?

We've got ducks too. I think they benefit the chickens because they keep the yard muddy lol
