We went in there with a flash light...didn't think about being able to scare them!! I thought something might have snuck in and didn't sleep a wink. They were all fine this morning. We also put a few sticks in there so they could roost if they wanted, they weren't on any but at least I was trying.

I went in there this morning with the flashlight and I think I woke them up because they all started running around and headed towards the feeder - Mr. Jeremy Fisher my BO roo leading the flock.

Thanks everyone for helping me to feel better. I don't think I will rest easy until we fix the doors that were slightly damaged by the storms...until then I just may be a fretter...then again this is my first set of "chickiepoos" (as the DH calls them) so maybe I will fret constantly until I am an expert??

Glad to hear most of you and your families are okay from the storms with little damage. If anyone needs help, please don't hesitate to ask!! Have a great morning everyone.

OOooo so it was the "big bad flashlight"

Awww... they will get used to your fretting!

My birds are so used to me going in after dark. I go in and do a head count, its like duck duck goose, I tap each one as I'm counting. I have 3 that sometimes try to pull a fast one and sleep outside the coop.

My ducks refused to go into there coop last night, they normally march right in when I come out to make sure everyone is tucked in. But they ran out into the field, being a bunch of buttheads. So I took up there food & water and left them out. I bet they will go to bed tonight. I always give them their late dinner in their coop, so they know to come in. Since they had nothing to eat or drink last night, they SHOULD know better tonight. If they want a nightime snack, they can have it in the coop.

I better get out and feed everyone, sure those ducks a hungry now.

Ruthann,

things are ok. Remember they will be slightly disorientated as they are in new surroundings. They all slept together in a group here at nights, but seemed fine. Maybe a heat lamp may help, they had not had one on for 2 weeks down here, so should be ok! Any questions just call!!!!

Gavin and Allison.

Good morning everyone!!

So DW and I have both got a bronchial infection - sucks!!

Good news, went outside to let the BR's out, followed by the Silkie/Buff mix. They all rush out like crazy as usual. So I go into the building to top off food/water and say hi to Sheba our broody hen when i hear cheeps. i stop to listen thinking it is outside, but no go over to Sheba to find she has hatched the 1st of 3 eggs she is sitting. it looks like a grey or white silkie chick. So, my question is do I remove the chick or leave it in with momma hen? It is the first time we have had a broody hen and let her hatch it out....

You can leave the chick, she will sit on the nest another day or two and then she should take them out for food. Just keep an eye on her.

Good morning! My little pipped chick hatched!! Yay! But no signs at all from any of the other 6 eggs. What on earth do I do if none of the others hatch?? They went so long without power I'm a nervous wreck. What do I do!???!??

Wait and pray, if you were able to keep the incubator warm with blankets etc, you should be fine. We all tend to over worry about these things!!
