I can say that I think we are getting better. Didn't loose any of the chicks today and all seem to be eating and drinking well.

However..... I did loose one of my grow out show English pullets today.

She was almost 3 months old. I knew the past few days she just wasn't acting 100% normal but was eating, drinking, perching, and acting normal other than being extremely talkative which wasn't normal, that was my clue but no other signs or symptoms. Came out this afternoon to find her taking her last breath. I know they can't all be perfect all the time but man did she look like her mama!!

The ones we fall in love with early are the ones that never make it.

I do my best not to fall for them till they are adults and even then I seem to lose the ones I love the most. Predators know which have been fattened with extra treats and love.

Why does that happen? I've read so many posts of chickens just dying of all different ages for no apparent reasons.
