Bhep= I hear ya about the humidity. I've got a lot of work to do today and it's going to be miserable. We got the boards for holding up the roof netting this morning and the hubby was sweating like horse (then again, he hears the word work and he starts sweating).

The 2nd layer of fencing will go up this weekend. The roof netting probably next weekend.

I still need to stir up the shavings in the coop though.

To Matt, Tricia and all those who have lost birds so far, we are sorry..... I am looking to put out the frozen water bottles already, they love to stand on them.

On a brighter note, today is trip preparation day, tomorrow I am off to pick up the "Firetower" hen house which DW - Allison - won in the auction. A 9 hour round trip with 2 teenage lads to help me load it on the trailer. There will be pictures taken of this task, and posted when able to (I am off to the Coke 600 race on Sunday), so it may be Monday at the earliest.

I am so sorry matt for your loss, she was beautiful.

We are going to be running some wire around the coop. What would be the best to get? I can tell our little cockerel must of either put up a fight or just escapade. There where feather all over the place from him as well, but he didn't have a single scratch. We are thinking of maybe getting a great pyrenees.

want to get my first chickens is there some where near Fayetteville NC that sells directly and ican pick them up

Theres a flock swap tomorrow in Fayetteville at a feed store that also sells chicks. Look in the Fayetteville craigslist farm and garden for more infor on it. You will beable to find chickens there tomorrow and who knows what else.

Sorry for all the losses of birds for everyone.

If Fuquay-Varina/Holly Springs isn't too far, then I recommend Sumner-Byrd Farm. You can find them online at www.sumner-byrdfarm.com I'm a little hesitant to buy from people on Craigslist cause you never really know the health and wellbeing of their birds. I'd rather buy from someone on here directly or Sumner-Byrd than just take my chances. But thats me and I'm a newbienoobnube.

I would suggest that you look for some one who is NPIP certified. this, while not a certain quarrantee, will help you be sure that you are getting health birds. I have heard of many people going to swaps and getting bird that are sick and die with in a few days or be carrier that infect any new birds you want to add. Do you have a certain breed in mind? If you have you looked on Caridslist to see if you can find any one to buy birds from that you can visit and see if all the birds appear to be healthy. Feed store usualy get their chicks from hatcheries are pretty safe to buy from.

This is just my opinion, so good luck with how ever you decide to go. We are all here to help if you need it.

Mat so sorry to hear about Sprite and everyone else with their losses.

I will be glad when this month is over and hopefully the bad luck goes with it.
