Hello! Anyone here from the Wilmington, NC area?

I've lived near big cities all of my life so this is a different experience for me. I miss the amenities of a big city but I have to admit - I also like the slower pace. A "happy medium" works for me!

I have always known that I wanted different kinds of animals. (According to my mom my first toy was a cat!) I have been considering chickens for a while and planned on building a coop. However, my neighbor just SUPRISED me with 3 hens and a rooster! So, I have them temporarily housed in what looks like to be a goat pen next to my barn. Ha.

It seems that the comments are true that once you get your first chickens you want MORE! I'm having to resist the urge to get more until I have my coop finished.

Now I have to figure out what kinds of chickens were given to me...

I don't live near you, but this is also my first adventure outside of the big city lol. You can post photos of ur chickens after 10 posts, either on here or using the what breed or gender topic. I had some mystery chicks a while back and everyone was really helpful with identifying them

Hope everyone else is enjoying this beautiful weather...im stuck inside at work today

it's so pretty here, have the grankids for 2 weeks and we went down to swim in the river. Cold but refreshing too.

Quick question -

We're thinking about getting some broilers, but before I rush out and start working on that, I want to make sure I know of someone who will process them for me. (Or someone willing to come down one weekend and show me how). If any of you know of anyone who will process backyard birds, let me know. Thanks! I live in Johnston County NC.
