North Carolina

I sell birds that don't meet "my" standards....so, I do sell quite a few. I also grow out and sell show quality birds that I won't be using in my breeding program; they help pay for new projects.

I'm really computer illiterate....I'm also not fond of technology. Judy~~Three Cedars Silkies~~came for a visit about a month ago, and while she was here, she taught me how to upload and post pics. She has the patience of Jobe...lol.

Gonna go look at your page now

Thats what I need someone with the patience of Job. I finaly figured out how to get my pictures to my BYC page but it won't let me put them anywhere else, but I won't give up. I have had my computer for about a year and a half, and the only reason I have one is because of 2 friends who set it up for me. Now I am on my own.

I took the Gals' 5 gallon heavy duty plastic waterer and filled it with 2 kettles of boiling hot water and filled it the rest of the way to the top with hot tap water. Then I placed it inside their 4x8x4 coop and closed it up. Before I did that the inside temp was 37.5 F and within about 15 minutes it had risen to 42.5 F. I did this last year when the nighttime temps got down in the low 20's or lower and it kept the inside temp above 35 F all night long. Then tomorrow morning I'll set it back out in the run and open the cap and they'll have fresh water all day.

Welcome HeathersBoers

Jim~~excellent idea !! I may have to try that in the "big girls" house

17 degrees here this morning, but at least the wind has died down. Spent about 3 hours yesterday out in the cold and boy do I feel it in my bones. Last night, I dreamed about a big, deluxe barn with a covered walkway from the house...lol

Looks like we're going to have a couple of tolerable days, then back to what we just went through ~~weather wise. I'm going to try and take advantage of those "warm" couple of days and finish EVERYTHING outside.

Good Morning Miss Lydia (I know you'll be on here soon...lol)

What a nice website you have. I see you have lav orps, where did yours come from? I have them too! You also have horses, yeah, my fav. We raise APHA horses, our old stallion is a grandson to Eternal Sun. Love those foundation lines.

Good morning All, it's a balmy 10 degrees here this morning and my rooster JW is crowing! I have been out to let those that wanted to come out, out and most said not yet. One plus is the wind isn't blowing. We're headed to the big city of Asheville today, Brrr I'm with you BC looking forward to 30's and low 40's next couple of days. So much for it's going to be a mild winter haha. I like your idea too Jim, I have a nice heat lamp I got from Premier1 very safe, might want to check it out. keeps them around 30 which is fine, don't want them to have to extreme changes since they go out in this cold too. The ducks and goose feet where a nice bright pink yesterday, they spent alot of time laying on them, We ya'll have a great day and keep those peeps and yourselves warm

Hi Miss Lydia! I some how missed you popping up on this thread. I'm down in the frozen wasteland of Gaston County! I moved to NC because of the "mild" winters. This makes the 18th and I don't remember it being this cold this early!! What part of the Mts. are you from? I have a friend out in Waynesville and Talani is in Bryson City.

Welcome to the funny farm

Hi CoyoteMagic, yep I pop up here most every morning Bat Cave Silkies and I have to see who's the coldest. Where did you move from? We live in Yancey county, Burnsville about 44 miles North east of Asheville. Where is Gaston co.? last year and this year are pretty close to being the same here. Someone told me that it's suppose to be 3 years in a row of this. Most would say around here it's like winters use to be. So much for Globe warming. Hope to meet some of ya''ll at the show in Morganton in Feb. never been to one, just hope we aren't snowed in.
