Kids are being a handful and a half today! Finally getting a breather. Will probably last all of 3 minutes! Sheesh! Have a good day all!

Been meaning to post this for anyone interested! I'm going out later to post some around time since the season is up and kicking!

~~Private Group Jam Party~~

Canning has become a lost art, but we all still crave that sweet sweet jam that brings back the amazing memories of our youth. No matter how we try, those store bought jars are overly sweet and lacking the depth of the homemade preserve you know you prefer!

So now you and your friends/family can have your vary own JAM PARTY in your home (or other group location). Learn a skill that will last a lifetime!

*Classes are 2hrs & we come to you (we even clean up!)

*We bring all require supplies so you need not buy anything up front

*Classes include snacks & printed notes of the entire class. PLUS additional recipes for you to try from home after the class.

*PM or Email me for more information. We even set up an initial meeting to make sure we meet your group's needs at no cost to you.

P.s. - If you have friends or family locally who may be interested, just copy the above and email it out. We travel most of Wake, Harnett & Johnston Co. Additional cost may be added if you need us to travel farther.

Ok... thanks everyone! The season is here, and times are getting tough, so I hope my business picks up.

I just had to share. My apologies for not being as great of a storyteller as Matt and some of you others, but here is my chicken story for the day!!

Okay...so there is this HUGE ruckus going on outside in the coop and I think...OH NO, I must have left the door open and Tink the cat is in there terrorizing the chickens. Jeremy is running inside and outside of the coop making this WEIRD "call" that I have never heard before (it reminded me of a goose, no joke). Thankfully DD is down for a nap and I can locate my shoes and glasses to head out there to investigate. What do you think it is? Well your guess is as good as mine because there was NOTHING out there at all. The coop was locked up tight, the girls were looking to me for a treat...but nothing to explain this odd noise. I head back into the house and sure enough...he and one of his girls starts up again. I am wondering if this is her, "Hey, I'm about to lay my first egg" ruckus because she is talking LOUD and he is imitating her.

So all that for nothing, not even a new egg (yet). Just a few more white hairs on my head and a stopped heart...

and to think we are contemplating getting more!!

So how to do incorporate chickens into World Lit. and World History Jl?

Haven't found a way yet so I hang out in the Ag class during part of my lunch and/or planning. I got them some quail eggs to hatch on the Whatcha Got Swap thread so I am currently cool in Ag class!

These noises basically translate as: Hen - "HeyEverybodyGuessWhat, ILaidAn EGG!!!"
Rooster - "HeyEverybodyGuessWhat, MyWomanLaidAn EGG!"

My roosters also used to make a noise that gave me the creeps. I swear it sounded like a woman screaming in the far off distance. My brother visited and informed me that is the "Everything Is OK" song. They sing it the most in the evening. The boys want the girls to relax, lay an egg, and be ready to mate. Selfish things!

JL - I definitely think you could incorporate several things about chickens into your World History class. For example before the notion of currency people use to (and in some countries still do) barter for goods. In some countries portions of chickens are considered delicacies whereas in other countries it is quite common to see a community chicken flock. I could come up with a bunch of examples for history, but so few for literature. Somehow I don't think 9th graders would appreciate Dr. Seuss or Chicken Little!!

ML - Thanks for the heads up. I still think it was the funniest sound I have ever heard.

All that for nothing...it was a big let down. I'm hoping for an egg explosion in the coop tomorrow...like 10 eggs or something!!

(shh...I only have 7 that can actually lay, but they don't need to know they can't lay more than one)

I have a confession to make everyone...I have signed up for BYH so I can learn more about sheep. One comment though...BYC is still WAY better as there is hardly any one on there who comments. Just goes to show you all are the best!!

Makes you want to go out and check no one is hiding cigars around the coop! LOL

Check it out, my saffron crocus are blooming! I was so excited to see how quick they came up. I love saffron!
