North Carolina

Wild, I am a single dad. I have had my daughter since she was almost 4 years old. Like everyone else has said, if he doesn't want to be there, but a boot in his behind and slam the door. It's not worth all the hassle and heartaches. Your mom will be your best friend, mine has helped me tremendously.Ii wouldn't be where I am without her. Good luck with your decision and your precious gift from God. You will never regret it. I was 31 and single when my daughter was born and it was unplanned. I was scared. We tried the marriage thing but we get along much better not being married. If he comes to his senses, he will see what a beautiful gift that he is about to recieve and want to be in that babies life.

On a different note, my heart goes out to the parents in a Conn. school where a shooter has killed 20 kids and 6 adults plus himself. Very sad day up there. News is saying it was a kindergarten class.

Good Morning, Happy Chicken People!

Still feeling like warmed over chicken poo this morning, so still not planning on WCA. I won't go next week either, as it's too close to Christmas, and my kids will be in. I guess I'll see you after the New Year!

All the chickies are growing well. JDC is going to get crowded if I can't get some of these moved out. I've got 28 more chicks in there than I planned on, with the order that got canceled by the hatchery getting sent anyway. All well and good when they're little but as they grow, they need more space!

And they poop more!

It's getting difficult to keep up with clean-up in there. I need to be able to move the largest of them at least by New Years....I've got eggs in the incubator and more coming in the mail!

Hope you all have a lovely day! Welcome to the new folks! Jump right in; this is a great group here! (I've used up my allottment of exclamation points for the day, so must go now.....)

Do any of your birds lay the mulberry colored eggs??
Are there any lines in the states that lay those eggs?
Sorry its taken so long to answer ..I have been in class this for training for my new job ,had the pleasure of being PEPPER SPRAYED what a joy that was
now I get to start work on Monday ..Anyway most of the birds here in the states lay a brown egg I have one hen that lays a purpleish color egg , but egg color is
not a major concern .I am breeding my birds for showing.. Well last Sunday , my first hatched was a success 15 out of 16 good percentage, 25 are hatching today
30 for the next 3 weeks each...I am done stuffing the incubator for a while so if any one wants some eggs I'll have some available here's a list

Standard Black Langshan
Bantam Langshan
Bantam New Hampshire
Bantam White Japanese these would have to be as assortment as the are not laying alot

Looking for some fun and prizes:

Tonight's game prizes will depend on the number of posts we get on bheps contest thread. If you hit 1000 remember you will be also posting where you looked and didn't find me. If we hit 1000 the prize will be 12 Auto-Sexing Breed hatching eggs LATE Spring/Summer from 4 different breeds.

If you don't hit 1000 we will use that prize again later and the prize will be Other Hatching Eggs and a BYC cookbook

You may start running the count up on that thread now by posting anything you want, sort of last night.

I'm off for chicken chores and dinner then I will be back.

Good Morning, Chicken People!

Even reading the first post of that thread, it doesn't make any sense to me. Is there any place that has an explanation?

I thought I had my time before the new furniture gets delivered and the kids come in all worked out so I could get everything done without killing myself. I totally forgot I have jury duty on the 18th, which is Tuesday. Lovely. Takes a chunk out of that day, for sure! Hopefully not more than that. So now I have to try to get even more done today and tomorrow. I did get a fair bit done yesterday, though. More than I expected, so I guess I'm ahead of the game.

The young ones have discovered scratch, which means I'm now the crack lady and get mobbed when I open the door to the JDC. And I'm pretty sure that I have a couple roos in the RIR pullet bunch. It's okay. Hard to make more RIRs without a roo.

I am feeling better this morning, thankfully. It was no fun working yesterday, as every time I bent over my head tried to explode. Hope all other sick people are improving as well! Have a great day, everyone!

HAHAHA That it will....

NH: with morning sickness like that I'm gonna go ahead and bet it's another girl LOL.
Is it time to get off work yet? jeez i think it's been the longest week ever!
I didn't have morning sickness with my first (girl), my second I didn't get "ill" until the middle of the 2nd trimester (girl) and this one...I have been LIVING on saltines and ginger tea as I am sick 24/7!! DH is HOPING for a boy, but I have no opinions...YET. LOL. I am hoping you will have to "pay out" on this bet of yours. LOL. JK
Welcome to the new folks.

Woke up in the middle of the night with what I thought was a charlie horse, but I have NO idea what happened. I hurt my back somehow and can barely walk....sleeping was NOT an option either!! I had to wake up DH to lift the baby out of the crib because I couldn't do it!!

Trying to decide if I should go to the Chiropractor or a Masseuse!! LOL Sad part is, I don't have a doctor here yet (aside from my OB and the Pediatric doctor for the kids)....LOL Been hunting for a more holistic doctor - a naturopath - but sadly haven't found anything yet!! Oh well. I have some Eucalyptus oil and will put that on to help soothe the muscle.
Chicken news: Cadbury, Reece's Cream, Caramel were all hanging out on the deck yesterday!! It was their first day out of quarantine!! I must say I LOVE my big boy...he was telling those guineas who's boss!! LOL, they would try to get close, and he would "slap them upside their heads" with his wings! Haha. He was also "nipping" Daisy because she kept stealing his bread treats!! Our chicks are getting bigger...we even had one break out during feeding/watering and the cutest thing...mama Cochin "herded" her back towards her pen and kept her there until DH was able to get her and put her back in.
love.gif
I LOVE my cochin...I think I might NEED another 2 or so!! They are such GOOD mamas!!

Sorry some of you are under the weather....there has been something terrible going around lately. Take care, drink lots of fluids and just try to rest and recuperate!! Sending prayers your way!!

Hi Everyone. I've posted here once or twice before, but generally just check in and read what everyone is up to. This thread moves fast, I can barely keep up! I am also writing to see if anyone might have a good home for a Swedish Flower Hen cockerel, born July 4 this year. He is a great roo, very cool, has never challenged me, not mean to any of the girls. But he is VERY vocal and I need to move him to a place where that won't be an issue (i.e. away from my neighbors). If anyone is interested, please let me know. He is a pure SFH, my broody blue wyandotte hatched him from eggs I got from a BYC member, who got her SFH flock directly from Greenfire. I don't want any money, I just want him to go somewhere he can crow 'til his heart's content. If anyone can help me/him, please PM me. And keep posting funny stuff and pics - love them both. Here is Clarence:
