Whatcha settin? I want a bator so bad. DH told me I could get one for my birthday last month but I said no, cause I know me and we would have more babies than we need.

RIR's... Wife gave me a bator for Christmas... hatched 7 eggs in that round... She asked why I hadn't filled it up yet...

... I finished filling it up today.... had a friend wanting some chickens, after they were 7 weeks old, told him to come get them.. He decided he didn't want them after all... Sold em on Craigslist.... The wife liked the little bit of extra money from the sell... She has already said, if they don't sell, we are putting taking them to freezer camp.... (She has never cleaned a bird before, don't think she knows what could be in store)....

So many of you have started seeds already.
How many of you are using a greenhouse.....
how many are using a cold frame.......or just
starting the inside your house? So many
ways to start seeds that it could boggle one's mind

Hope everyone has a good day

I have started seeds, in my bathroom now for years. They do well. Year before last I was giving plants away I started too many. Last year they died (I could not keep the heat regulated). So far this year I have already started sprouting.

I will be selling some of my crafts at Tractor Supply on Raeford Rd. on March 2nd.

Good Morning, Happy Chicken People!

I was up way late and intended to sleep in a smidge, but couldn't do it long.

When I was in charge of the garden, some things went in as seeds, and other things I started indoors. Some years back I used to raise orchids, and welded up a stand that would hold six four-foot light banks. They gradually gave way to garden starts. Nowadays hubby does the garden, and what doesn't get direct seeded we get starts from Bell's Seed Store. I would grow seeds forhim, but the light bank seems to be full of boxes of wool and yarn....and incubators! Wonder how that happened?

I have one cage of chicks in the house with two supposed-to-be-Ameraucanas-but-have-no-cheeks, one Buff Brahma and one Wellie. When I open the cage to feed and water and clean them, the first three spaz out, totally. "OMGZ!!! It's The Hands!!!!" In the meantime, the Wellie is trying as hard as she can to see what I'm bringing. She completely ignores her spazzing roommates instead of joining them. I think she's already aiming for pet status...

Enjoy your day!

Good Morning Happy Chicken Peeps!
Can you believe there is only 1 week of February left? WHERE is the time going? Managed to separate the young chicks from the guineas yesterday afternoon during nap time and they seem to be enjoying the solitude (and a bit of extra food...SHHH). Guineas are...well, being guineas I suspect. LOL
Busy day in store: finishing up the baby food process (squash/carrots, turnips/carrots, peas, corn, broccoli/potatoes - all cooked just need processed and put into jars), make another batch of bread for the freezer and FINALLY finish my 2 baby quilts and get those in the mail!! Then I can work on a much promised matching outfit for DD1 & 2 - she asks DAILY to match her little sister!

I hope for at least a few more years she stays this way!! Ordering our soil to be delivered this weekend (or next) and transplanting a few sprouts into growing containers. This is my TO DO list...and if I get half done...I think I'll be way ahead of myself. HAHA

RF - I start my tomatoes & peppers indoors, everything else, I direct sow into the ground (which I am waiting on my dirt to get started with some of my peas!!). I don't have helpers that ENJOY hoeing or getting dirty, my helper is too much of a sissy princess who comes running to me with a speck of dirt on her hands asking me to clean it off. WHERE did I go wrong? LOL

Moore- Best of luck with your sales!! I know you certainly make some beautiful things!!

Have a wonderful day everyone!!

I have a young sumatra (looks like a pullet) doing this to the point that she wont eat unless I sit and watch her. She will keep jumping on me and I have to keep putting her back at the food, and if I turn my head to look away she stops eating
th.gif
This "pet" might not make it long as I cant sit with her all day every day to watch her eat

Nh sounds like you need to wait for a warm day with rain and take her out to discover the joys of a mud puddle

or I can bring mine over to show her how to enjoy a good muddle puddle. (its like a magnet with mine
