A late Good Morning, Happy Chicken People!

Welcome to the new folks!

Seriously overslept this morning! I'm in Georgia visiting my parents, and they have insulated curtains. Not a ray of sunlight is getting into this bedroom to ell me it's morning!

Hubby is home caring for my critters. He's a good guy. :)

Enjoy the day!

Good Sunday Morning everyone!

We are staying home, doing not much of anything. Not sure what happened, but the little one started getting sick last night and was up most of the night (I'm thinking we bundled her up too much yesterday and she ended up getting too warm?!?). Staying home to play it safe.

Funny chicken news: I figured out why we're not getting many eggs (well...we're getting ONE)...yesterday our splash (cochin/orpington mutt) that we thought was a rooster then thought it was a pullet...well SHE started fighting with one of the other roosters....then turns out SHE did HER thing with another one - so unless she is VERY confused...she is in fact a rooster. That would make in total 5 of my 7 POL chickens - roosters!!

Seriously?!? I guess I just have to look at a chicken and it's a rooster!! LOL. Now it makes sense why all of these combs were BRIGHT red and we were not seeing any eggs. This is what happens when you have MUTTS and try to guess what they are...the old adage don't count your chickens until they hatch should say...don't count your pullets until they lay or your roosters crow!!

Have a great day everyone & WELCOME to the new people!!

Good morning everyone :frow

I have a question, I have encountered a problem with my LF blue orps. This is the 3rd time I have set eggs from this group, and nothing! None of the eggs are fertile. I know my boy is fertile as I have mutts from him. But I think the problem is my girl just won't squat for him :idunno. Is there I can do to help fertility. I have heard of artificial insemination........ how would I do this???

Usually they do not run in packs but a mother possum
will have her babies with her until they are old enough
to care for themselves. Possums prefer to be solitary
and this one of the reasons they rarely have rabies.

sorry about your loss hens
