What part of the state do you live in? As far as cultural diversity, there's a ton of it, especially in the mountains
There are many types of crafts, folklore, music, and other traditions that are unique to NC. You should check out the mountains if you haven't yet. The whole state is full of culturally diverse events, people, etc., but the mountains are my fav As far as racism, it still exists(as it does everywhere) but it definitely is not that prominent. One may imply that there is serious racism because of all the rebel flags flying in people's yards. Most people just do this to let people know they're southern and proud of it, not to show they believe in slavery or hate blacks. Anyways, glad to hear you chose the best state to live in!!!!
