North Carolina

well I had a mircale hatch today

on day 14 I candled eggs and accidently broke one(craked the shell at the top), in an effort to save the developing chick, I dampened a piece of paper towel and smoothed it over the egg, in the bator the paper towel dried slightly and stuck to the egg nicely. today day 23. the egg finally hatched and a healthy baby cochin is now chirpping away in the bator

Hi I am in Climax.... Happy you joined us!

Processed three chickens today.... Soupy did not even notice three were missing from coop when we went up there. Now in a couple days we will do another three or four....

only got nine more to do!

Good evening all,

I just bought two rescue birds home and put them in the new coop (the chicks have a while before they can use it), and even though it rained most of today, the birds won't stay in the coop and now they are rather wet. I understand that fresh air, grass etc is new to them, but I'm concerned that they will get sick.

I covered the coop and most of the run with heavy plastic. Will that work to help keep them warm?
