Thank you!

Let me know when those guineas start hatching :) I'm watching mine to see if they are getting ready. I should just keep them penned up but I feel bad keeping them in. I need them to be eating all the ticks. Eventually I'll get enough so that I can keep a few in, I hope.

They still are not laying. Just yesterday I let them out to free range, thinking that maybe keeping them penned up is causing stress. I was hoping to avoid egg-hunts and exposing them to predators, but it just wasn't working out. I will let you know when I am hatching some.

I'm abt mile and half fm lincoln county line

I've had two babies hatch!!! So far both are pullets. These are from my Cream Legbar pair, Desi & Lucy. It sure took long enough! I thought I'd never get a fertile egg. Just hatched -
still wet.

Awe.....makes me want to try my hand at hatching a few - one day when I have more time I guess.

That's freakin awesome, pats most definately on the back! I would have shreaked and smashed as a reflex! I would rather take on a copperhead snake than a spider. I'm a thirty two year old male that's 200 lbs scared of a dang spider. You did well grasshopper!

I will say the idea to smash it was TOP on my list of things to do/how to respond...but then I kept having flash backs to the movie Arachnophobia where the spider JUMPS on the guy's face...so I just couldn't stomach that thought - it about sent me into early labor

JK, well kind of. Spiders terrify me, but I am trying to be a good mama and react LESS so that I don't pass my "issues" on to the ever watchful eyes of my youngsters. They are growing up country while I grew up a city girl with dreams of being a country bumpkin. LOL.

Collected SIX eggs today (DH forgot to collect last night and I was NOT about to go in there...in the dark...with that monster of a spider lurking about) and still NO duck eggs. What could be up? They have their favorite spots and I have checked them all, they don't wander far from the deck, so I am just completely confused as to why they aren't laying.

I think I may be jinxed...my guineas never laid me any eggs, my ducks LOVE to eat from my hand and will let me pet them but don't give me eggs and I had to FIGHT with my chickens to start laying...not to mention when they go broody and hatch eggs - I hatch ROOSTERS 99% of the time!!

If they weren't so cute, and weren't a necessity, I'd contemplate giving up!! To console myself, I think I am going to go look at photos of chicks and ducklings!!

OK, calling all the sexing experts! I am growing these birds out for NurseBecky, and she needs four pullets out of this group! What you are looking at are 4-wk-old birds (4 SLWs, and 2 Ameraucanas). Please give me your expert guesses so she can make an educated decision. Here they be:

SLW #1 (If it's not a Roo, I'll eat my hat)

SLW #2:

SLW #3:

SLW #4:

Ameraucana #1:

Ameraucana #2:
