Good morning folks![]()
it is baffling to me why folks think that they can
ask an outrageous price for things. I seen on another
thread where a person had set 4 dz eggs earlier this
spring but only 8 chicks hatched and now they are
asking $50 for a dz eggs![]()
personally I would want better fertility rates before
I would even consider such a price and as a buyer
I would be extremely upset at those hatch rates
no matter the price
I guess they have a gold mine![]()
hope your day is a good one![]()
Yep, thanks. Already have that one.heres a great link for wry neck Dragonflies and Dandelions - Alan Stanford on CROOKNECK (from injury to head)
Thanks so much for your experience! I am clueless as to what I should do.... Just wanted some eggs and now I got these two roosters..... Boo!I have 7 hens and 2 roosters...one very old huge white rock rooster, the other a barnyard bantam...they are not bantam sized, but not large fowl either...they are in between...anyway, they don't fight, but the hens aren't be on bred either...my eggs are infertile because both roosters live to make sure the other one isn't getting any...so that sucks, but I'll soon have many more hens. I also think we're going to eat the little guy. I don't want any small chickens...I am alright with the bantam mixes, but I prefer larger chickens...but the little guy is a super good rooster. He's very attentive to the hens, more so than the big guy...perhaps I could just make a bantam coop? That would work I guess.
Been busy at the house, 3 +/- weeks until mini me is set to arrive. 40 eggs in the incubator due to hatch this weekend. and one of my hens has gone broody. If I were to hatch these and give them to her would that be ok? I mean she's only been sitting for 2 days, would it be ok to give them to her to shorten her sitting time?
Stick a couple pipped eggs under her to hatch. If she actually hatchs a couple there is a MUCH better chance of her adopting chicks. I have had hens broody for 4 days and I gave them chicks. Daisy got her's 2 years ago after 4 days when another hen rejected and that hen actually set the eggs the entire time. A good broody that will adopt is worth her weight in gold.
