Oh I won't be done with that school where I work until June 11!! but that is pi compared to the work I do for graduate school. Lol.

Hollow, you are right, I guess I will find out very soon!

I love the baby stories that come out when one is due! My first one was 23 days past the due date. The docs decided they had miscalculated. I had to point out to them that she really was late. My military husband had only been home four days. I knew when I had gotten pregnant!

LOL

Reminds me of the situation with my youngest. He was breech so it had to be a planned C-section and my doctors were getting panicky that I might go into labor. I kept pointing out that their calculation put the date of conception on the second day of my last period, that my cycle-charting records proved that I don't ovulate until 10 days before my period, and that my history with the other 3 proved showed that my babies were always at least 7-10 days late from an accurate due date.

The CNM believed me, but the OBs were adamant about panicking when I knew perfectly well that I was good for at least 3 more weeks.

Can anyone help me?

I'm looking for chicks or started pullets in the Sandhills area -- Moore, Hoke, Richmond, or Scotland County or as far east as Fayetteville.

I'm primarily interested in Delawares, Australorps, Light or Dark Brahmas but I wouldn't turn down Silver-Grey Dorkings, Silver-laced Wyandottes, White or Columbian Rocks, or even Easter Eggers as long as they are full-size rather than bantam, have a tempermant suited to confinement*, and are colored black, white, or black and white.

Its not that there's anything wrong with red, buff, etc. Its just that since I can only have 4 hens I want the kinds I think are the prettiest and I absolutely LOVE black and white patterns on chickens. But I don't want Barred Rocks or Dominiques because narrow stripes make me giddy.

I'm looking for 4 started pullets, preferably a mix of the breeds I like, or about 8 straight-run chicks.

*Some of those light-breed, white-egg layers are stunningly beautiful, but these ladies will literally be backyard birds in a residential neighborhood. They'll have a roomy run and get time in a tractor on garden duty, but they'll never be out free ranging.

My semester ends next week and then 2 weeks off, but back to school for the summer semester. I'm only taking 3 classes then and then back to 4 for the fall. I absolutely love school, but this semester has really been dragging. I think it's because I have been struggling in my calculus class.

Oh a happier note, I got one of my final exams for grad school out of the way tonight. I had taken the day off to study, thank goodness. That is how I was able to monitor the little sick chick all day and feed it as often as I could.

Hollow - I didn't realize the teachers were as happy as the students to finish the semester! LOL!

Still have some big projects due and another final then the Praxis 2 on May 11. After that, I will be done for the semester - hallelujah! Then I will reward myself by going to Chickenstock! LOL!

Hoping to work on breeding some of my purebreeds once I'm done and will have more time to devote to that project.

Congrats on your exam. Ready for some keets? Hatch May 15, and you're first on the list. Let me know.
