North Carolina

I am hoping someone can help me. I have two unexpected roos from my purchase of pullets from Murray McMurray back in the late winter.

He has shown no signs of aggression, except trying to show his manly ways to a couple of cornish cross that I still have. He is a beautiful red color. I only have 7 hens so I do not think I can keep both boys. I am going to try to to make it with one rooster but may be seeing him off too if it does not work out.

If anyone can take him off my hands I would greatly appreciate it.

i would love to take your rooster but i have 3 roosters of my own that i can hardly handle at this point haha he is handsome ;D
Should I treat the whole flock with an antibiotic or use the wait and see approach.

She was fine Monday. I changed from shaving to sand on Sunday and she was perfectly fine, mad at me but fine.

Could she have been egg bound?

Sharon
i had a white leghorn that was egg bound and died there was some discharge from here nostrils not much though but i had a white leghorn that had a heart attack too and she had a white something and yellow something that sort of looked like egg yolk coming from her nostrils she might have had either of those things that i am saying about....

Both litters have their eyes open now.

SUPER CUTE!!!!

OK, so what do you do if you want to go away for a weekend? A week? Two weeks? We live in Raleigh, have a tractor coop, and move the girls every day to give them fresh grass and bugs to peck at. Where do we find a good pet-sitter for our girls? And what about the eggs that the girls lay while they are being watched? When we travel, we can't bring our chickens with us like we bring our dogs (and our four human kids) ... Tips, please :)

If I were closer, I'd be happy to help, but I'm over an hour away from you.

We're lucky, we have a neighbor who helps us when we are out of town.

well you first pray that you can find a good pet sitter (don't laugh, been there done that and wont ever repeat!!!) I have seen people run ads on Craig's list for pet sitting. But one way to help encourage good pet sitting is by letting the pet sitter keep the eggs for themselves.
