If I said my chickens were not in condition, I would mean that they were in a molt and looking ratty. Other people might mean they were underweight, or even ill. If someone uses that phrase, I'd find out exactly what they mean by it.
Okay thanks.
He says that he is NPIP they are show birds that he bred so I was thinking maybe they weren't laying anymore or something? Obviously people can say anything they want it doesn't mean it's true, but I'd never heard that phrase. He wants a lot of money if they're in bad condition!!!

I just want a HEALTHY, broody silkie that will raise chicks I don't care about her actually laying eggs, and I can't go through raising day old chicks again to find out they're roo's because it sucks getting rid of them when you're attached :(

So, I have 4 broodies right now, no clue on when the hatches are because of not knowing when they started sitting. I get home yesterday and hear a LOUD chirping....go exploring and find what looks to be, a 2-3 day old chick in the neighbors yard just scratchin' away.....I tried to put it back in where I thought it hatched from, she is being a real B! So it looks like we have a new house chicken, BTW it's a dark brahma roo over a swedish flower.....crazy pretty colored bird!

Sounds really pretty, post a pic!!!

Any suggestions on other breeds besides silkies that will go broody?
None of the chickens I ever had ever went broody, even when I tried to get them to!
The closest I had to a broody was a my silkie rooster who would raise the baby chicks and sleep in the nest box with them instead of his roost.

4 out of 5 of my brahmas are broody right now, and the other one went last year but not this year

Is there anything you can do to make a chicken go broody, or it's just on their own.
I've seen posts on people trying to make them go un-broody by putting them in little wire bottom cages!!!!
But I don't remember ever seeing anything on making them be broody.

nope, it just happens. You try and "break" them from being broody if you don't want them to hatch

Lavender Orpingtons :)
They're all the same breed, but colors slightly different I guess different parts of the laying cycle?
In the photo some look almost white, but it's the glare I guess, they are all brown.
Found them from an NPIP breeder right over in Wilmington on ebay.
He had 100% positive feedback and they got here quick, so hoping for a good hatch!!
I'm going crazy without chickens!!!
