What kind of chicken is this? Feathering looks weird and was supposed to be EE but comb doesn't match and doesn't have muff or beard? Feather pattern looks like dark brahma but no feathered legs or feet! I have no earthly idea what kind of chicken he or she is! Lol

She looks young but just like my dark Brahma! They have beautiful feathers and get pretty big. But mine is turning into a great layer. I have heard of some with no feathered legs.

Not a long experience with them but was just looking on the Brahma thread on BYC and even the little ones had feathered legs. Sometimes as they get older they pull them out themselves but I haven't had to deal with this so I don't know. I just went to the top of the page and searched "Brahma" and it came up to that thread. Wish I could help you more. It might be that yours is a mix of Brahma with another breed. Check them out and ask what they think.

Do all the TSC's do flock swaps? I'm in Morehead City and the nearest one to me is either Jacksonville or New Bern.
No. TSC does not actually host any flock swap. TSC just allows groups to use their parking lot. Since the manager has to give permission to the group, you can call the TSC closest to you and ask if any are scheduled.

She might be an ee. They have no set "look". EEs are a cross, so they could have any leg color and body color. They could have any combo of muffs/beard to none at all. She looks more penciled like a campine, than laced like a dark brahma to me. So I would wait for an egg, but she is probably an ee. What type of comb does she have?

Outside he looks like a Black copper marans, but in the pictures he looks like a Blue Copper. I need to catch him when I open their coop in the morning and take a close look. He is the only one I had hatch out of the 6 eggs I paid $10 for. Since it was the only one to hatch I knew it was a Cockerel from day one.

Matt

Well you're doing slightly better than me!
I got 6 mail order blue marans eggs for $30, 3 hatched but one was soon murdered by his fellow chicks.
The 2 survivors are both male and dark-- one looks just like yours minus the copper coloring highlights, and the other one is completely super irridescent dark with a white chest/belly but that is still fluff so will probably be darker.
Where did you get blue marans eggs from???
I did the mail order thing twice from ebay and the prices were high and both times I ended up with all boys.
I think I'm destined not to get a blue marans hen!
