Hi Everyone! I was away from BYC for a week and there were over 100 posts! I guess that will teach me.

I loved the banter about honey and vodka. I haven't tried it, but hear that honey vodka is quite nice.

Hollow, I love the idea of new coops! I am jealous.

Someone posted about water heaters. This year I made heaters by putting a socket and light bulb inside a Christmas tin. I wasn't sure how I would like them. They are great. They keep the water warm enough to not freeze, although on some days the top of the waterer was icy. The bottoms were always thawed. I have mine on blocks so they don't touch bedding, but I don't think they get hot enough to start a fire anyway. They were cheap and easy to make which is always a bonus.

Someone posted that they are looking for chicks, I have some buff orpington eggs in the incubator and 9 Super Blue Egg Layers that are about 2 weeks old. The SBL are a cross between Leghorns and Ameraucanas. They have cute fluffy cheeks and look like they will have beards and muffs. PM me if interested.

Crossing my fingers, toes, eyes in hopes of snow tomorrow! I want a snow day on Wednesday!!!

Should I be worried about these quail with the temps getting so low?
They had a heat lamp up until like 2 days ago & there were like 30 in a pen together instead of 6-12. I tried to cover the hutches with some blankets, but the insulation isn't as good as the other pens.
I've got to figure out what I'm doing for everyone's waterers come tomorrow too

for those of you who have been dealing with water problems i think TS sells like heated dog waters(if you just have chickens not large animals) and i am using that right now for my dog and my chickens and they are working great
