Wow, RF, she's really pretty too!
All the pictures I've seen of girls they look really drab next to the roo's.
I would love to have a rooster with those gorgeous tails! How old is yours, I'm assuming they take years to get full grown like a peacock.
You have me wanting a Sumatra hen now! Let me know when you have fertile eggs for sale!

Side note: My turkeys started mating this morning. I felt really bad for the hen, it looked like he was trying to murder her, standing on her back, burying her face in ice & snow. DH got all excited at the prospect of fertile eggs & called the kids to run to the window and watch. I don't know why he does things like this, I foresee a lot of questions on the birds & the bees coming my way today! Now if only she'd start laying....

Sumatras get a pretty long tail their first year, but at 2 years the tail is set and that's the length that it will be with proper feeding and barring any broken feathers

. Now some other long tail breeds that don't molt, will keep getting longer tails in the roosters.

This morning when I went out to feed and water the chickens, who have NO desire to come outside. We had 10 inches with another 3-5 coming this afternoon.

It wouldn't be so bad but my DH is on call this week and he has to stay in Greensboro. Thank God we haven't lost power! I hope everyone stays warm and safe.
