Welcome! We bought our place a few years before hubby retired in 2008. Worked well for us, since we knew we were staying in the general area. Got our spot about halfway between my job and his, and it works. He was a city boy, but I know he'd never go back now!
Pretty neat to see retired military on here. My son is 18 month out....he can't wait! Stationed in DC at Belvoir where he stays during the week...They bought a house when he was stationed at Eustis....their house is only a mile from the Bay..,they want to stay there for retirement and let the younger kids stay in the school system where they have done well. He owns chickens and especially his silkies.... So one day he may have time to be on here! LOL

I think there are several retired military hanging out in here. Good for your son! Hubby spent a bit over thirty years in. I was more than ready for him to get out! And we are liking it quite a bit these days!

Hello everyone. Been having problems with puter lately, wouldn't let me post anything on here. Happy belated birthdays to everyone. I retired in 2008 with the Nationa Guard, 5 active and 15 guard.
Congrats to all the new hatches. Been thinking about maybe trying to get a frizzle or sizzle. DDsaid we could ge rid of two silkies to make room. She's worries about where they go and if they'll be spoiled like do to them. If anyone has one that they would consider trading send me a pm. One of the silkies is white and the other i porcelin(i think). can try t get pics if that would help. White one doesn't have the tuft of hair on top where as the porcelin does.
Hopefully i'll be able to post again soon if anyone has questions. May try to go to that swap/meet in Sanford since I have to go to my brothers. He lives in Sanford.

Glad it went well for you. At least you didn't have a DOA in a pen! :lau
OMG that would have been so embarrassing!!

Thanks for the congrats everyone! :) my poor rooster is pretty out of it so if he makes it through the night I will have hope. :) his crop is still full from eating so much last night so I haven't made him eat, but he has food available of course.
Time will tell!

Welcome to the new peeps! :)

After two days, 100% of my faverolles hatched. Of all the chicks I've hatched these seem to be the cutest and fluffiest. I don't think I'm hatching any more for a while, my incubators need a break.

Good morning and welcome to all the new folks

Seems we have an egg bound hen so we are trying a few
things with her. The soaking trick has not worked and that
was tried 3 times so I am trying mineral oil in the vent with
hopes that will help her ease some eggs out. Any other
ideas out there?

hope everyone has a good day

Quote: If he's still alive and still has a full crop, but it doesn't look like his food has been eaten, take his food away. He might have an impacted crop. A day without food won't kill him but will allow his crop to empty. If his crop doesn't empty by tonight, than its impacted and you will have to help him with that. Hope hes doing better for you.

We still have 13 years to retirement & it feels like foreverrrrr!!! haha

CSB, sorry about your egg bound hen :)

Hope everyone has a GREAT day!!! Looks like it's going to be one of the nicest we've had in awhile! FINALLY getting my garden in, latest it's been since we moved here!
