I got four silver spangled hamburg chicks two died within a day I took them back then the two that lived died and soon after the replacments from the first two died... it was only the hamburgs! I have a bittybox full of chicks of many breeds store bought and my own production even turkeys and they are all healthy as can be! are silver spangled hamburgs just not hardy? I was so looking forward to them they are beautiful chickens. P.s the hen in the pic is not mine

Honestly I have had the same luck with hamburgs!!! Last year I tried to raise (at different times): 2 golden spangled, 1 blue(or splash) and 2 silver spangled. All died within days! This year I grabbed a silver spangled from the feed store to give to my broody since she only hatched two. Also grabbed a golden laced Wyandotte. The hamburg was really lively but died within two days! The Wyandotte got eaten by a dog. :(
But now that you mention it, I have tried to raise a half a dozen hamburg chicks from different sources at different times of year with different brooding methods and not one has made it to 10 days old!!

Not 100% sure if this is one of those difficult breeds to raise but do you have any suspicion on what could have killed them? They might be too cold since it's a leaner breed. Or maybe the shipment was too stressful. You can try keeping them in a separate brooder.
