Question:  For those who sometimes sell eggs....

The average for a dozen fresh chicken eggs when seller provides a carton seems to be about $2.50

What about quail eggs & duck eggs???
I've only seen one person selling duck eggs & it was $5, never seen anyone with quail.  Not that we get enough to sell them, but if someone wanted them I was curious what the average price for them seemed to be?

Thanks!  Hope everyone is enjoying this warm weather!  SO much to get done in my house, but I can't help but be outside! ;)

I sell my chicken eggs for $5 per dozen or $2.50 for a half dozen so I may not be the best example for you. My ducks aren't laying yet but I can see myself selling them for $5 per dozen mixed in with my other eggs or a full dozen by themselves. But if demand was good enough.. I'd probably raise the price to $6, since they are superior eggs over chickens. :)
I would sell quail eggs cheaper than chicken eggs. Maybe $2.00 for a dozen, but I don't have quail yet so we'll see! :)

I give mine to neighbors. I tried to sell them for $2/dozen (buying cartons at 50cents, so really $1.50 actual profit) and I can't find anyone to buy them!!!
I don't know how to start.
I'm not trying to make anything off of it, but my feed costs are getting out of control, so I'd like to get something back towards that.
If I can't sell a dozen fresh eggs at $2 there's no way I'm getting $5!
Do you advertise?
Someone suggested I make a facebook page for selling eggs. Don't know that it'd actually work, but worth a try I guess....

Have you talked it up around your church? I've had several people tell me that wanted to buy when I start getting enough produced.

When I get to sit and look out of my back door deck,,,I always have to laugh at my sizzle roo....I allow him to free range but he never goes far...there are 4 hens inside the coop where he is. standing! LOLOL He can''t get to them because I don't have the kind of yard that provides places for them to seek protection... SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....he sits and yearns for the ladies he cannot have. He was a present sent to my DH who hates chickens! LOL as a joke. I love him but I do not want to deal with broodies and chicks.... I would love to find a loving home for him...Can't keep the roo. Because he is a cross with a silkie, he is a bantam....he crow is really not very loud.. Can't even hear him inside the house.. Neighbors can't hear him.

I sell mine at $3/dozen. I have regular customers, and then some irregular ones. We sell all we offer without a problem. Our customer base is at our jobs. I do weigh the eggs and do not include small or mediums in the cartons. Also, you can reuse cartons, so my customers return them to us for reuse. I've been working on the same case of cartons forever!

I reuse mine too I sell to my neighbors and friends and some family even some of my doctors and my dentist for 2.50 and I take .25 off the price when the bring cartons back everyone I sell to also save cartons for me put a small sign by your mail box (fresh eggs) or you could sell as hatching eggs on craigslist, ebay or my favorite is Hoobly if fertile

Okay, thank you!
I bought a bunch of cartons at TSC for 50cents a piece.
I don't work & don't really know many people down here (our neighborhood is mostly military so everyone's always moving), and there are only 2 other guys in my husband's office.

I put a listing on craigslist $2.50/dozen fresh free range eggs, but no responses to it. Maybe people think it's sketchy to buy eggs on craigslist or don't look on there? Probably most the people on the farm section of craigslist already have their own chickens. I've got to do something though because this time of year we're getting more than we can eat & the cost of food is ridiculous. We really should downsize a few birds, but I get so attached to them.

The mailbox sign is a good idea! I don't keep roosters so no fertile eggs here.

Thanks for your help!!!

Hens go broody whether you have a rooster or not and as long as you don't incubate the eggs they won't hatch. I have a bantam rooster and because of his size he can't even mount the girls.
