Good in a way but it also has its downfalls. Will be hatching all I can and being selective. Thanks for the help.

I am also planning to come to the poultry club meeting. It's on the 18th?

Congratulations RF. Hard work pays off!

I haven't yet decided if I want to try showing, but I might want to get in on classes to prepare for it regardless. It'll help me know what I'm looking at when I go to shows, if nothing else.

Looks like a gorgeous day coming on. Hope you all enjoy it!
The work of these birds wasn't mine, so I can't take that credit. Bhep was the one that found the eggs for me that these came from, so I can't take that credit either. But my son and I will be working on getting them even better.

I think it's a great idea that you go to the meeting, maybe even bring DH along with you. Everyone could learn a little more about chickens, even if they won't ever need to use the information.

Can anyone suggest a poultry vet in the Siler City/Pittsboro area? I can travel to Sanford if need be.

I have a young chick with an impacted crop. We've made some progress with separating her from the others and taking her out several times since yesterday afternoon to massage the crop until she vomits. The swelling has gone down some and she seems to be more alert this morning. But the swelling is still there and I'm not convinced that the problem is solved.

Good morning!

I finally figured out why I couldn't sell anything on craigslist! Apparently everything is routed to my spam folder, which I never checked.

I had 15 emails from the past 3 days wanting these 10 week old Leghorn pullets I put for $5 since I couldn't find any buyers, and another 10 from people wanting to buy my eggs I advertised for $2 a dozen. I was wondering why I couldn't get rid of anything, I thought my prices were cheap compared to other craigslist listings!

So finally selling some eggs for the first time today & all the extra pullets! Someone wants my 5 lavender silkies for $20 too. And apparently a bunch of people were trying to get these ducks I ended up processing for lack of options

I live in Sanford but I don't know any avian vets around here. My best guess would be to try All Animals. Good luck with your chick. :(

Does anyone in the WNC area have any Bantam Polish for sale?( Or upstate SC or eastern TN?) I have 7 hens and I need a rooster. Any color. I will take any age even unsexed chicks in the hope that one may be a cockerel. I could order some from a hatchery but I don't need 25 Bantam WC Blacks!

There is a girl on the York SC facebook group that had some. Don't know if she still does or not.

I would recommend Johnny Woods not sure what his number is any more ,he lives in Angier.. When I had my show Arabians
he was the only one I would let do them.. another good one is Thomas Flood same area

Thanks. That is a little far, I think. It is about an hour and a half from here to Angier, and that can be a bit far if someone throws a shoe. I was hoping for someone a bit closer, anyone have any ideas for farriers closer to Oxford?
Thank you,
JW

Anyone know where I can get some REALLY good Black Copper Marans eggs?
I bought eggs off ebay from a breeder, once for blue and once for black.
Both chickens have really good coloring & nicely feathered shanks (the blue moreso than the black), and I'm getting dark eggs, but I want DARK eggs. I know they go through cycles and will be darker at different times, but mine have never been as dark as some of the darkest I've seen in pictures.
It doesn't HAVE to be show quality as I'm not showing, but I'd like it to be as close as possible.

Thank you.

I was working on improving French black copper Marans before my rooster was killed by a supposed weasel... Working on finding some really good eggs too but it is very hard to get good genetics!
