But I am looking for some white or white crested black ladys for my black berchin polish if anyone has some bantam type hens for sale or trade feathers for feathers

For information purposes: If the bird pictured is what you are talking about, then that is not a birchen colored bird. He looks like a mix of colors that lead to a Black with gold leakage. That probably means that one of his parents was a Gold Laced. Pure polish, but not a pure variety(color).

The weatherman is calling for a "taste of summer".
We may need to try a few tricks to keep the birds
cool today.....and let us not forget to keep cool ourselves.
I am thankful chickens don't really like to swim........I
would hate to come home from work ready to jump
in the pool and have to chase out the chickens.

hope everyone has a good day

Chickens have 78 chromosomes. Pheasants have 80. If you crossed and got a viable egg, it wouldn't survive. I wouldn't waste my time on that one.

Any chance you know how many a peacock has?

I was wondering about this as I have one peacock and one turkey hen. They're about the same size, I was curious when he finally got out of quarantine if he was going to try and mate with my turkey. Not that I'm trying to cross or breed them, just went through my mind would they try and was it possible. I googled it and there was one story of a wild turkey mating with a peacock, but that was about it. I was thinking if it were possible, wouldn't it be more common even if by accident?

Domestic peafowl and turkey both have 80 its getting past the f1 sterility that's the catch plus I'm told the mix doesn't live but 3 to 5 years and is mean as satan
