I've done it too I put one in my coat pocket and as I was leaving the coop I hit my coat with the coop door and I knew as soon as I heard the thump what happened... modern game egg tooWell, I had a first today. Don't know what I was thinking when I did it, but I put a sumatra egg into the front pocket of my blue jeans along with my keys and cell phone. It made it about an hour before it broke when I was messing around at the computer. I noticed the large, very wet sticky spot when I got up to answer the door. As I didn't remember the egg being put there I wasn't sure what it was. Went to take my phone out and it was covered in this yellow goo, still didn't dawn on me what had happened. It's when I went to get the keys out that I seen the mashed egg shell.![]()
I must admit, I have put eggs in all kinds of pockets, some make it back out, others don't, but I have never put one in my jean's pocket before and hopefully never will again!!!![]()

Does anyone band their chickens?
Not something I've ever done, but just ordered some chicks.
A few assorted light breed pullets for the quickest turn around on egg production and their special they're running of extras of whatever straight run. I plan on growing the random ones out some, picking a few girls I might want to keep, using some males for meat, and selling off some of the extras. I wanted to mark the ones I'm buying as sexed pullets since I don't know what I'm getting and I may have males & females looking similar.
I looked at TSC they didn't have any leg bands in.
I was thinking maybe those crazy bands the kids are using to make those bracelets, probably doubled around? Obviously not loose enough to be pecked and pulled off, but not too tight it's hurting their legs as they will grow quick.
Thoughts???
Edit: Found some on ebay. No idea what the sizes meant so picked something in the middle. Hopefully they'll be here in a normal time frame, a lot I noticed were shipping from China these were from a US seller so hopefully this week. I got the spiral ones thinking I could tighten or loosen if necessary, I guess we will see....
The phone, once the slimy egg was removed, is ok. I normally do the broke eggs in the coat pockets, which my regular coat has many. I have even done a few shirt pockets. In fact I wouldn't count yourself a real chicken person if you aint done this in these places at least twice. But this is a first for pants for me.
