Good morning folks

Another lovely day is ahead of us.......unless you are praying
for snow.........then you are in for a disappointment in the day.

Does anyone know how to get the birds to molt? I'd like to see
if I could get half of the flock to molt at one time and then the
other half to molt later when the first half is back to laying.......
that way I could still have a fair number of eggs for eating.

hope everyone has a good day

Not entirely sure how to make them molt on command (would be fun). Like you snap your fingers and bam! Poof of feathers lol.

I've noticed that my hens seem to molt after they hatch eggs

.. Won't help, your situation, but its something I noticed. I'm sure theres some secret out there

There are people who swear by different diets with different protein amounts to encourange molting, to speed up molting, or to recover more rapidly from molting. I haven't tried any of them...I can't isolate and feed this bird or that bird separately. Good luck to you if you can.

I know it's an idea that is silly to some extent........getting the birds to
molt when you want......but it sure would be nice if we could encourage
the birds to molt when we need them to. There may be a few tricks that
help and folks who show their beauties might even know those tips but
honestly, like Hollow said........too many birds to try this on. We don't
even put lights on the birds during the winter to encourage them to lay
more. Lights are used to get everyone fed and then turned off as soon
as they have ate their evening meal.
