Trying to do weekend catch-up today. Got the rabbits cleaned out, new feeders mounted, and one mom and litter relocated to a new cage. The bottom is breaking on hers. I shouldn't wonder, as the big five foot kindling cages are nearly ten years old. I'll be replacing the floor in that one before putting anyone else in it. Going back out shortly to clean out the quail cages. I'm currently collecting to set eggs for them. I don't really want to raise any out; I just want freshly hatched quail babies to take to school! How silly is that!?
Going to sell the two Alpine does, but am debating about the Boer does. The Alpines I bottle raised, (April babies) so they are underfoot constantly. If my balance was good it wouldn't be an issue. In fact, I'd like it if my balance wasn't faulty. But it is a problem for me, so Sage and Whitefoot will be hunting a new place. The Boers, Fat and Sassy, while they are learning about petting, are not underfoot, and do a great job of keeping the fences clear. I think I may just buy them from Dad (They are on loan) and keep them here. They can coexist with the calves that will be coming in in a few weeks.
I keep getting tempted to buy more chicks. I don't need more chicks. I think I need an intervention. There are over 225 chickens on this farm. Why am I looking at more?
